Notes/Commercial Description:
A burly and bitter Imperial IPA, Rampant pours a pure copper and carries the sheen of a rightly hopped beer. The Mosaic and Calypso hops bring stonefruit to the front seat, and the addition of Centennials nod towards citrus for a well-rounded aroma. The taste expands these hops with heavy peach tones and a profoundly bitter bite. There is some malt sweetness to stand this beer up, and Rampant's finish is bone-dry.

clear light copper color thick head dies to thin layer with a chunk or two of foam left, nice carbonation from the bottom. good job on appearance. nose seems a bit lacking considering the flavor is solid ipa, with a bit of maturity rather than a hop bomb. lemon more so than usual (maybe the mosaic and calypso hops are doing that?), piney, malts back it up but are struggling a bit to do so. feel up front is sharp, but smooths out in back. leaves a bit of bitter on the tongue.

update - 1.1.14 - new label, didn't recognize it at first. still as solid as before, hops are very pronounced, but without the slap-in-the-face bitterness that marks a rookie. bumping my appearance score from 3.75 to 4 because the lacing is awesomely sticky from top to bottom.

Light copper color and mostly transparent. Big head on the pour recedes to a thin film but forms plenty of lacing on the glass with each sip.

Sweet and malty aroma with a non-specific spicy tone.

Flavor of sweet honey and buttered biscuits. Fresh herbal hops in good balance. Oily with hints of garlic.

Medium body. Smooth to drink then dry in the finish. Well carbonated. Very drinkable.

Descent DIPA just doesn't blow me away.

Beautifully constructed beer. It is only a little bitter compared to DFH 90m, which for me is the perfect beer. Although it left me with a dissatisfaction in aroma hops, it was an awesome deal at $8/6 pack at 8.5%. This beer continues to be my go to for nights that my wife can't understand that I need to drink more than she "approves of".

Crystal light Golden orange with clean white head

Nose- fairly mellow but lush fruity aroma of, peach, mandarin, biscuity malt and pine

Taste- starts with soft warm yet punchy citrus- oranges (mandarins?), subtle pink grapefruit. then things soften out on the palate with lots of peach/stone fruit- peach is very present as beer warms a bit, some bready malt, finishes with a touch of bright lemon juice and nice pine

Feel- surprisingly light-bodied, almost watery

It's different, I like the variety of the Mosaic/Calypso hops and the stone fruit character on the palate. I think it lacks the depth and body needed for a great IPA. The stone fruit notes remind me of Deschutes Red Chair (which has delicious apricoty quality imo), but doesn't have the body or complexity of flavor to make it inspiring (maybe unlike Red Chair)
