22 oz bottle poured into a New Belgium globe.
9% ABV, Best enjoyed by May 2014

A - Paardebloem pours a hazy light peach orange color that's topped by a loose and frothy white head. The bubbles reduce to sticky lace and a chunky floating pile.

S - Tart lactic acid is reminiscent of a Berliner Weisse right off the bat but Paardebloem has deep and delicate nuances of spice, wood, and cut grass. Between the yeasty aroma and additional earthy characteristics lies a faint trace of fresh peaches. Paardebloem has a certain heft to the aroma but remains refreshing and summer-like nonetheless.

T - Surprisingly lighter in flavor that the aroma suggests, Paardebloem also has a dramatic shift in the actual taste as well. Peach juice is forwards quite a bit while the rest of the beer coming together quite nicely; spiciness mingles well with the wood-aged beer that introduces earthy notes as well as the faint herbal qualities of the dandelion.

M - Moderate carbonation dances on the tongue giving the medium-bodied beer a somewhat lighter feel on the back end. Mildly sweet fruit juice works well to balance the inherent tartness within, drying out with a touch of alcohol and spice for a great finish!

O - Paardebloem is a unique beer that carries nuances of quite a few styles blended together for a well-rounded and surprisingly drinkable early summer beer. All of the additions; peach juice, grains of paradise, and dandelion greens, work well together though quite nuanced. The blend is nice but seems to come off cautious. Certainly another Lips of Faith series beer worth a try though!

22 ounce bottle, says Best Enjoyed by May 2014. Guess this was in my fridge longer than I thought. Served in a DFH Signature glass, the beer pours a hazy dark golden/orange color with about an inch off-white head. Head retention and lacing are both good. It smells like peaches, herbs/earthiness, white grapes/wine, citrus, and some bready malt. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of a bit of clove and grassiness. It's fruity, tart and bitter. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit coating and has a good amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good brew, I liked it.

Color- cloudy golden peach. Medium head.

Aroma- fruity with notes of sweet green grapes and hints of earthy dryness like clay dust.

Taste- A complex brew. Starts on the sweet side reminding us somewhat of sweet blond Belgian ales, then gently introduces a hint of sour (probably the dandelion greens), with a faint wisp of vanilla in the lingering finish.

Poured from 650 ml bomber into a Liefmans Goudenband glass (my preferred all purpose beer tasting glass). Tasted 6/30/2013.
