Appearance: Hazy golden brown in color, nonetheless with reasonable clarity, surmounted by a large, dense white head with good retention. The lacing is, appropriately Belgian-like, and the carbonation slight.
Aroma: Prominent pumpkin spices of cinnamon and nutmeg dominate the aroma, but there is a modest note of cranberry as well and a hint of alcohol.
Taste: The taste begins with a wave of pumpkin pie spice, soon followed by a solid malt presence and a nice wave of tart cranberries. Later in the taste, some moderate herbal hop bitterness contrast well with the spices, pumpkin, and cranberries. Finishes with lingering cinnamon and nutmeg, and slight hop bitterness.
Mouth feel: Smooth, soft, quite pleasant.
Drinkability/notes: A really nice example that is worthy of being served at Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year's dinners.
Presentation: Packaged on a custom twelve-ounce brown glass long-neck bottle, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.
Sourcing: Purchased at HEB in Texas on 08/06/2013 for $7.99/six-pack plus tax.
Serving type: bottle
