An ambery-orange body with a modest white head that dissipates into a thin yet lingering covering of bubbly white foam.
Smells of allspice and sweet caramel with a faint hint of nutmeg. A bit sweeter than what the style typically is, and too much so to be enjoyed.
Caramel malts are a little too heavy on the front of the tongue, as are the cranberries on the back. Leaves a relatively unpleasant resin at the back of the mouth. Seems even more unbalanced as the beer warms: too malty, which is interesting given the fact it isn't a brown.
A slight under-carbonation leads to a slimy and oily feel.
I am a little confused by this beer and what NBB is going for. I wouldn't suggest spending your weekly beer money on this season.
