Appearance: Light orange with ok lacing. Looks nice in the the snifter. Definitely too thin for a pumpkin though.

Smell: Lots of nutmeg and not much else. Nice sweetness but too one-note.

Taste/Mouthfeel: More nutmeg. Very citrusy. Orange juice and rind are both present. Slightly acidic and sour. Probably the lightest mouthfeel of any pumpkin beer I've had.

Overall Drinkability: It's not that there is too much nutmeg, it's that there is really nothing but nutmeg. Reminds me of an extra-spiced Blue Moon.

Served in a snifter.

Pumpkick builds a decent fingers width of airy, white foam, while sporting an amber body.

It is spiced, but not how a pumpkin ale usually is. There are no notes of cinnamon, or nutmeg, or clove. There is a little bit of ginger, some graham cracker, and the subtle tang of cranberries.

This is an interesting combo of pumpkin meat, lemongrass, and cranberry.. A slightly bitter tingle rests on the corner of the tongue after every drink. This beer is also very malty, bready really, not like the graham cracker on the nose. This also gives a pretty big dose of mineral water mid-drink.

I like that the drink is relatively smooth, but it does not feel very hefty. I could appreciate this more if it felt bigger.

Pumpkick certainly has some interesting spicing going on as you let it warm. I feel that if you go into this beer expecting to find a pumpkin ale you are going to be let down. The spices are a little light, and err more towards the lemongrass and cinnamon than a pumpkin pie sweetness.

12oz : tulip

Pours a clear, coppery orange with a fair amount of particles floating throughout. Foamy, off white head.

Cinnamon, allspice notes. Bready, lightly caramel malt base. Pleasant, but a bit subdued overall.

Medium body, foamy carbonation.

A well done pumpkin ale. The taste and aroma are pleasant, but I would have liked them to be a bit more predominant.

Reviewed on All Hallow's Eve and Samhain. Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a shaker pint glass. A moderate pour produces a creamy, frothy, pale tan head that reduces to about 1/4 and sticks around, leaving ghostly apparitions of lace on the sides. These seem to map out one's possible destiny, as the beer progresses....The beer is a burnt orange in color, with plenty of carbonation.

A definite pumpkin aroma wafts on the nose, along with a bit of citrus and cranberry, as advertised. The pumpkin spices are evident, but not overdone. I don't get much of a cranberry flavor on the tongue. The hop flavors are more bittering than aromatic, but do lend some subtle citrus qualities. Overall, the flavors mesh and balance each other well, and nothing is overbearing.

A very good beer that balances the pumpkin, spice and fruity flavors quite well. I feel the pumpkin and spices could even be ramped up a bit. However, I prefer the understated flavors of this beer over some others where the spices are overdone.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a New Belgium Globe glass. Bottle says best before 16th of Feb, 14.

Appearance: Pours a deep caramel amber orange with a lot of rising bubbles. About one finger of off white head that fades into a thin patchy layer. Leaves a decent amount of lacing around the glass.

Smell: An earthy pumpkin aroma with hints of spices along with berries and citrus. Upfront earthy hints of pumpkin. Fall spice hints including cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, and allspice. Juicy hints of the cranberries and lemon come through. Bready malt with hints of sweet caramel, toffee, biscuit, grains, and yeast. Subtle earthy hop hints. A pretty solid and interesting aroma.

Taste: Like the aroma, a solid earthy taste of pumpkins along with notes of fall spices and added fruits. Upfront taste of pumpkins. Mix of spices including notes of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, and allspice. Fruity taste of cranberries along with some lemongrass. Pale malts with notes of sweet caramel, toffee, grains, biscuit, and yeast. Earthy hop notes linger in the background. A pretty nice taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Juicy, spicy, and fairly drying and smooth.

Overall: A pretty solid twist on a pumpkin ale. The added fruits mix well with the pumpkin and spices.
