The Yuzu poured a very cloudy golden hay color and had minimal head with big, full bubbles. The smell of the Yuzu peel was strong and acidic, but not in an offensive way.
It was very light and smooth in the mouth with a really even taste throughout the tongue. The blending done on this beer was superb. Nothing stood out over anything else. It was just very well balanced. You got that bright lemon-grapefruit pop of the Yuzu right away, and then it mellowed out into a very familiar orange zest flavor.
I believe that since this beer was brewed with Lactobacillus and Breattanomyces this lets it live in the world of sour beers. New Belgium has qualified it as a Berliner Weisse – and it has all the classic beer qualities of a good Weisse as well.
I would certainly buy this one again and keep it around for those long Minnesota winters when I need a reminder of summer.

The beer is a clear pale straw with white creamy head. The head dissipates quickly but leaves a little around the edge of the beer.
The beer is slightly tart with a strong wheat smell. In addition, there a fruity smells such as yuzu, lemon as well as others.
Sour and tarty with a wheat taste as well. Other flavors include yuzu and orange but the wheat flavor seems to dominate.
Dry, crisp and medium bodied. Smooth feel.
A decent Berliner and worth drinking at least once.

Was looking forward to this as a good Berliner Weisse is a good thing and an Imperial BW should be a very good thing.
Started out good with a pale yellow slightly cloudy look and a bright white head.
Smell is also very nice with a tart aroma dominating.
The taste just doesn't have the sour that is expected. It is actually on the bland but sweet side.
Overall not a bad beer but not a great Berliner weisse.

22 ounce bottle - $8.49 at Bullock's Wine & Spirits in Marietta, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours a light, pale yellow body, lightly hazed, with a slim, white head.
Smell: Lightly sweet-scented, lemony nose with a vein of savory spice, it's a bit perfumy like a scented bar of soap. Lacks the lactic, that much is certain.
Taste: Citrusy, lemony with a smooth tone of wheat malt. Mild sweetness. Savory, herbal quality throughout. Nil hop character, bitterness. A little tangy, acidic, but the anticipated, hoped for lactic element is absent.
Mouthfeel: Falls about medium-plus body, though barely. Medium-plus carbonation.
Overall: It totally forgoes all of the best attributes of a Berliner Weisse. Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining.
