On tap at Newhall Refinery in Newhall, CA.

Pours a hazy yellow with a foamy off-white head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is slightly sour with malt, grain, and subdued citrus aromas. Taste is much the same with grain, earth, and slightly sour citrus fruit flavors on the finish. There is a very mild amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer with a subdued citrus presence all around.

22 ounce bottle into signature globe glass, bottled on 6/27/2013. Pours lightly hazy golden straw color with a 1 finger dense bright white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of pear, apple, lemon, peach, wheat, floral, herbal, grass, light pepper, musty funk, and yeast earthiness. Nice and interesting aromas with good balance of malt, fruit, and yeast ester notes with good strength. Taste of pear, apple, peach, lemon, wheat, floral, herbal, grass, musty funk, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Minimal earthy tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of light fruits, lemon, peach, wheat, floral, herbal, grass, light pepper, musty funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Decent balance and complexity of malt, fruit, and yeast ester flavors; with light flavor robustness and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very crisp and smooth mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a decent Berliner Weisse. Not really a whole lot going on in the flavors, but is smooth and drinkable with good flavor balance. Fairly enjoyable stuff.

Big fan of this adventure of New Belgium. This brew as with most of the Lip series is different. Not a typical Berliner. The wheat is way in the background. Poured a cloudy yellow with a small white head. Smelled of citrus and some spices. Mouth feel is sour with a hint of sweet. Flavors cover citrus coriander and a slight wheat taste. Some light malt with a forward yeast flavor. Can't call this a wheat, Berliner, or a whit. Very drinkable. Paired well with the spicy food I had with it.

the best way I can describe this beer simply is a sour wheat beer. it really throws you for a loop because I for one am not used to my sours tasting slightly citrusy and vice versa. still this interesting combo just makes you want to try more but not too much more

Interesting approach with this one, comes off sweeter than a traditional Berliner Weisse but just in the aftertaste. Due to high ABV? The mild sourness does accent the fruity citrus well. Starts with orange and lime fruitiness, kind of yeasty, then corn nuts, then soap, with an alcohol finish. Becomes soapier the more I drink it. Still, not in an un-enjoyable way. wth is a yuzu? Not bad, not as good as most other Lips of Faith I've sampled. 68/100

this beer is actually done very well!...at first i agreed with all these other people, because it doesn't fit the "standard" berliner weisse! then i went to the brewery website and saw they used "yuzu" in it, a Chinese citrus fruit, after this beer warmed a bit, i really began to taste the tart, sourness, and "yuzu"! they really did a great job on this ale!

Clear pale golden, highly carbed with steady rush of bubbles feeding a thin snow white head.

Wheaty flour on the nose, slight hints of clove and sweet fruit.

Hmm, not really digging it. The fruitiness combined with the abv make it seem almost like a wine cooler. Sweettart and a breath of spice on the finish.

Not nearly as crisp as I expected given how bubbly it is. Semi-syrupy.

I'm still game for trying at least a bottle of most of the Lips of Faith series but won't be repeating this one.

Poured from a bomber into a stemless wine glass

A- pours a slightly hazy yellow with a gorgeous two finger white head. Looks about par for the course for a Berliner

S- light lemony aroma. Nothing going on here at all.

T- Berliner weisse are supposed to be sour. Or at least "refreshingly tart". This is neither. It tastes like a citrus soft drink, mostly sweet with oranges. Not a bad taste, but not what I expected at all - might as well label it "New Belgium Yuzu Wheat", that way I wouldn't have paid 8.99 expecting something tart

M- the body delivers on the "imperial" label, as this is a rather thick beer. But dammit, it's so sweet that the body doesn't add anything to the beer, and instead takes away from the experience

O- this isn't what I expected at all. It's not your typical Berliner weisse, and as someone who loves the style, that disappoints me.
