11 ounce pour - $5.00 at Taco Mac in Crabapple, Georgia.
Appearance: Dark, dull orange-gold body, a bit hazy, with a slim, white head cap.
Smell: A beer that definitely delivers on its branded namesake promise, coconut and curry. Sweetish, plump malted wheat, additional notes of banana.
Taste: Sugary upfront angle (giving a hint of cream soda from time to time), then, coconut, fenugreek -- oh, heck, all the varied curry notes, and finally the 'nana from the full-on wheat inclusion. Additional slight warming quality from the alcohol content pairs with the heat from the curry blend. Slow finish with sustained sweetness and more of the coconut and curry.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium carbonation.
Overall: Sure, it's a different, interesting combination, but, I would have preferred a slimmed down version in something less viscous and more effervescent. As it stands, it's heavy and heavy-handed in its aspects and not the easiest beer to get down.
Serving type: on-tap

Bottled a year ago June 20th 2013. Poured 6/28/14. Sister's boyfriend bought this not knowing how old it was, but I knew it came out at least a year ago... turns out I was about right. The bottle says it's fine to age, so let's see.
Appearance: Hazy light amber sort of color with some yeasty bits floating around as well. No lacing, and any head on it dies right away.
Smell: The combination of coconut and curry almost comes off as an all-spice or cinnamon sort of aroma. Unusual, and smells like something I'd have in Autumn or Winter, but still pleasant and unexpected. Curry and coconut can also be picked out individually though. Banana-like qualities from the yeast are there as well. Very interesting nose on this one, as I expected.
Taste/feel: Well, very smooth texture with a pleasant carbonation. Enjoyable to drink on a hot summer day like today. The curry and coconut have likely toned down over the year this was on the shelf, but it didn't taste "skunked", and actually tasted pretty good ---- very unique. No heat from the curry, but you get the flavor, and there's also a good amount of coconut flavors there as well. Again, though, cinnamon/all-spice sort of flavors come out, and the banana flavor is still alive and well. 8%? Who would guess?
3.75/5 overall just because it's unique and I'm impressed with how well it stood up. It's not an excellent, jaw-droppping beer, but it's a surprisingly and dangerously easy drinking beer that's really quite enjoyable.
