12 oz. bottle, bottled on date 10/28/2013 (label imprint reads 131028, with an expiration of 30 Mar 14). Poured into an American pint glass.

A - Poured out fast enough to build a good head on the beer, but get all 12oz into the glass with one pour. The head was pure white and frothy, roughly a finger tall on the beer; mostly diminished within 2-3 minutes, with significant lacing on the glass. The body of the beer was a clear yellowish amber. There was no sediment in the body. Slight carbonation rising from the base of the glass.

S - The aroma is not overwhelmingly strong or distinct. There is a clear hop note, with scents of pine and resin, and some fruitiness. There is a slight floral scents to the aroma. Smells like an IPA and Belgian should.

T - The flavor profile is very complex. Slightly sweet up front, but more earthy with notes of pine and citrus from the hops, there are also clear hints of yeast. Finishes slightly bitter with a hint of acidity. Pine and citrus notes throughout, with a fruitiness that is clear but not overpowering.

M - The carbonation is mellow. The beer has a light to medium body, with a creamy yet slightly dry texture. The beer finishes with a hint of alcohol. Nice fading finish.

O- I enjoyed this beer, and would drink it again. At 6.5% abv there is the slightest hint of alcohol in the beer, though nothing like a true high gravity imperial or strong style. It makes for a nice seasonal change for anyone who enjoys IPA or pale ale and is looking for something slightly different.

12oz brown bottle with a freshness date.

LOOK: Mildly hazed yellow straw hue, tight lacing that leaves a trail in its wake.

SMELL: CItrus zest, woody hops, tangerine, spice, grassy grain, mild evergreen

TASTE: Grassy hop, citrus peel, faint powdered aspirin, juicy hop resin, vague spicing, pale malt, ample bitterness, dry graininess, long lingering hop finish

Perhaps more of an IPA than White Ale, tasty none the less and a good switch up on the whole seasonal thing.

This beer doesn't seem remotely winter-ish. It's hoppy, like a basic IPA, not overwhelmingly. The color is yellow, plain and simple. It has lemon hints, which is perfectly in line with its color. It almost tastes like a lemon cookie. Besides that, nothing really stands out, besides its fantastic bottle art.

First of all - who put this as a Belgian IPA? People need to think for themselves and not just react to the White IPA name, as the "style" doesn't necessarily mean it is Wit-like. This has standard ale yeast, but happens to have some wheat. Big deal, there is nothing Belgian here; New Belgium already has Belgo IPA.

Anyway...

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Nonic Pint.

Appearance: Hazy straw color with a frothy, stark white head and some lacing rings.

Smell: Mosaic and Amarillo overload. Tart grapefruit, berry, tropical notes, some spiciness.

Taste: Unbelievably subdued. It tastes like Mosaic and Amarillo hops over a light, wheat malt body. There are the expected hop notes considering the varietals - tart grapefruit, berry, tropical notes. However, it all tastes seriously watered down, with a very light, spicy, bitter finish.

Feel: Creamy, smooth and light like a wheat beer, but dry like an IPA. Decent carbonation. Overall, the mouthfeel is quite good.

Overall: Looks good, smells good, feels good, but someone forgot to work on the taste (or accidentilly mixed my bottle with half beer / half water). This was so close to a success. If only the taste (the exact taste I am detecting) was stronger.

Pale golden hued with great clarity. Minimal wisp of head covers half of the top of this beer. I get a bit of floral hop and pale wheat in the nose. The mouth is moderately carbonated. The flavor is pale wheat and I just get bit a light taste of floral hops.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a New Belgium Globe glass. Bottle says best before Feb 02, 2014.

Appearance: Pours a bright and clear straw golden orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. About one finger of white head which fades into a patchy layer. Leaves a decent amount of creamy lacing.

Smell: A fairly sweet and fruity hop forward aroma with good hints of citrus fruit and pine. Upfront scent of hops with earthy hints of grass and pine resin. Citrus hop hints of orange, lemons, pineapple, grapefruit, and peach. Pale malt and wheat with hints of grains, cracker, straw, and yeast. Fairly spicy smelling. A pretty solid hoppy aroma.

Taste: Like its smells, a very hoppy taste with a mix of grass, spicy pine, and citrus fruit esters. Upfront taste of earthy, herbal, and floral hops with notes of spicy pine resin and grass. Juicy citrus hop presence with notes of orange, pineapple, lemon zest, grapefruit, melon, and peach. Backing presence of pale malt and wheat with notes of grains, straw, cracker, and yeast. A solid mix of hop flavors.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Very juicy and oily. Finishes dry.

Overall: A solid hoppy IPA taste. Not much of a "white" presence as the name would suggest, but the mix of resinous hops is good.
