12 oz bottle from the Utah State System. We now are able to get some limited distribution of New Belgium here, finally.

Appearance: Tiniest amount of hazy in this pale pale yellow beer. A generous amount of frothy white head kind of reminds me of the snow outside. This one laces well, too.

Smell: Tropical fruity hops dominate this beer and everything else is so mild. There maybe a faint cracker sort of malt, but it is not what I would call balanced.

Taste: The hop flavors remind me of a tropical fruit bowl. I can easily pick out pineapple and floral hop flavors. The malt takes a back seat to the delicious hops here.

Mouthfeel: On the medium low side for body. The carbonation is average. The mouthfeel could be described as slick with all the hop oil.

Overall: I liked this one better than the score shows. I would try this again and certainly not shy away from ordering it in a bar. It is a touch too one sided to rate very well. I do like tropical hops so this one is great there.

12oz bottle with a best-by 4/20/14 date. Poured into a tulip, just above 40 degrees.

Pours with a short white head over a very pale yellow colored body, with a slight foggy/cloudy look to it. Very nice lacing.

Aromas are a light and bready. Plenty of yeast comes through, and just a touch of pineapple-to-apple fruit.

Mouthfeel is pretty light, and easy drinking. This goes down quickly, with just light carbonation. Flavors have a lot of apple in the middle, with a light finish of pine. Some lingering bitterness in the aftertaste reminds you that it's an IPA. Finish is nice and dry.

This is a pretty easy-drinking IPA, as I guess "white" IPAs should be... right? Nothing too strong for those who are scared off by muscled-out IPAs.

Best by 20 April 2014. Tasted 6 April 2014. Drinking this on the back porch, my first outdoor beer of the year, after it finally warmed up enough for such things.

Pours a pale clear lightly-golden straw yellow. One finger of white head, good retention, excellent lacing. A lazy stream of bubbles rising slowly up the center of the glass, mirroring my late-afternoon energy.

Smell is thin, a bit sweet & corny. I get bright citrus notes that really make the beer for me (without them it'd be a whole lot worse). There's an acrid smell that reminds me a touch of urine; happily that dissipates after only a few minutes in the glass.

Taste is blah. Not bad, just not much. Grainy, some corn-like sweetness, a faint wash of bitter, some chalk. Just meh.

Feel is okay. Medium-light body, carbonation on the low side. Make that way on the low side. It sits, and allows some of the more unpleasant flavors (chalk, especially) to settle in.

Overall, it's an okay beer. Nothing remarkable about it, nothing terrible. No reason to drink it, really, with so many better options.
