Notes/Commercial Description:
This winter, IBUs start accumulating like snow in Colorado with our new Accumulation White IPA. Brewing a white IPA was not only a way to salute the white beauty falling from the sky, but a direct revolt to the longstanding tradition of brewing dark beers for winter. At least that’s what our rebellious brewer Grady Hull likes to claim as he shovels in plenty of new hop varietals and a bit of wheat for a smooth mouthfeel. Stack up a few cases of Accumulation White IPA to keep your long nights glowing blizzard white.

Leftovers from a party we hosted. Hopeful this beer isn't as bad as it reputation labels it to be. Trying not to let this get to me, but it might factor in subconsciously (could benefit the beer though). Poured into a pint.

Freshness date March 2014.

Questionable move producing a white IPA as a winter beer but here we go...

A&S: Good head, pours about a finger and hangs around in a foamy half finger layer that has a nice cling in the thick lacing. Semi-lively transparent very pale yellow colored beer. Aroma consists: of spicy hops, bready pale malts, a slight lemongrass tone.

T&M: Spicy hops dominate the taste as well as they did in the smell. Midway through there is a pretty substantial boast of grapefruit tones accompanied by grassy tones. Pretty smooth, carbonation has a bite, but doesn't get too intense. Very easy to drink.

Overall: I have to say, not as bad as I expected it to. I still question the move by new belgium to release this beer as a winter seasonal, it seems to be more fitting as a spring time or very early summer beer. One of the more solid beers from new belgium, I still wish they didn't do away with snow day. Idk to each there own. Wouldn't buy this beer (unless on some-kind-of super sale), but wouldn't turn it down.

Enjoy by 3/22/15. 12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a pale yellow with a slight haze; chunky eggshell white head that sticks around and leaves great lacing and retention. Great looking brew. The aromas have lots of lemon zest. More subtle citrus notes. Some grapefruit. Some malts in the mix. Smells like your typical New Belgium hoppy beer. The Belgian aspects almost seem non-existent, although they're ultimately there. The flavors are bittersweet and refreshing. More citrus notes. More lemon and lime. Hints of wheat. Lots of fresh grass. Hints of caramel. There's a nice little bitterness, but it's far from overwhelming. Finishes pretty clean. Mouthfeel is nice. It's medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth and easy drinking. Alcohol goes unnoticed.

This is a fun beer to drink, but isn't overly impressive. Like I said before, it's your typical New Belgium hoppy beer with a subtle kiss of wheat.

12oz brown bottle with a freshness date.

LOOK: Mildly hazed yellow straw hue, tight lacing that leaves a trail in its wake.

SMELL: CItrus zest, woody hops, tangerine, spice, grassy grain, mild evergreen

TASTE: Grassy hop, citrus peel, faint powdered aspirin, juicy hop resin, vague spicing, pale malt, ample bitterness, dry graininess, long lingering hop finish

Perhaps more of an IPA than White Ale, tasty none the less and a good switch up on the whole seasonal thing.

This beer doesn't seem remotely winter-ish. It's hoppy, like a basic IPA, not overwhelmingly. The color is yellow, plain and simple. It has lemon hints, which is perfectly in line with its color. It almost tastes like a lemon cookie. Besides that, nothing really stands out, besides its fantastic bottle art.

First of all - who put this as a Belgian IPA? People need to think for themselves and not just react to the White IPA name, as the "style" doesn't necessarily mean it is Wit-like. This has standard ale yeast, but happens to have some wheat. Big deal, there is nothing Belgian here; New Belgium already has Belgo IPA.

Anyway...

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Nonic Pint.

Appearance: Hazy straw color with a frothy, stark white head and some lacing rings.

Smell: Mosaic and Amarillo overload. Tart grapefruit, berry, tropical notes, some spiciness.

Taste: Unbelievably subdued. It tastes like Mosaic and Amarillo hops over a light, wheat malt body. There are the expected hop notes considering the varietals - tart grapefruit, berry, tropical notes. However, it all tastes seriously watered down, with a very light, spicy, bitter finish.

Feel: Creamy, smooth and light like a wheat beer, but dry like an IPA. Decent carbonation. Overall, the mouthfeel is quite good.

Overall: Looks good, smells good, feels good, but someone forgot to work on the taste (or accidentilly mixed my bottle with half beer / half water). This was so close to a success. If only the taste (the exact taste I am detecting) was stronger.
