Uerige Weizen wird seit 1995 hausgebraut, natürlich ebenfalls nach dem Reinheitsgebot von 1516.

Es hat ein erfrischend "trockenes" Aroma und schmeckt besonders im Sommer ganz ausgezeichnet.

Uerige Weizen hat einen Alkoholgehalt von 4,7% und ein Mindestfrischedatum von vier Monaten.

A: Pours a dark blonde with areddish hues and a feverish carbonation and a thin light tan head.

S: fresh berries, a very fruity yeast aroma, and some apples.

T: For flavor a huge sour malt palate slaps you in the face upon the very first sip. The texture is very rough and grainy. There is some sour citrus hopping as well. The beer is acetic, with a huge tartness and a slight fusel presence leaving a solvent like taste and grainy residue coating on the tongue. The malting is overpowering per style with some lingering solvent notes in the aftertaste.

M: slick and sour with a rough texture and a active carbonation

D: Overall, a moderate beer with less then moderate drinkability.

A: The beer is slightly hazy yellow in color with a finger high off white head that died down quickly into a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface. No carbonation is visible in the form of rising bubbles.
S: There are light to moderate aromas of wheat in the nose along with some hints of yeast.
T: The overall taste has flavors of wheat with some hints of fruits and spices.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and the finish has a slight amount of dryness.
D: The beer isn't that difficult to drink but it isn't quite as thirst quenching as some of the other types of hefeweizens from Germany.

Bottled offering drank at the Uerige Brauhaus in the Duesseldorf Altstadt

A- Cloudy pale blonde, 2 finger head that disappates quickly to leave a crown, minimal lacing.

S- I got next to nothing in the smell, and i mean nothing! No cloves, bananas, no aroma whatsoever

T- Yeah, im sorry its just so bland, i couldnt get any classic weizen flavours or any other flavour out of it either!

M- Spritzy with watery mouthfeel

D- Leave the weizens to the Bavarians guys, stick to what you are good at! This is a poorly flavoured weizen example.

This weizen is actually clean bodied and goldenrod in color. Its bone white head has solid retention and leaves a decent quantity of lace around the glass. There a little banana and vague yeast in the nose. A little more comes to taste, where there's not only banana, but some cider too. It's not what you will find in Munich, but it is a decent attempt to break the altbier habit that you'll find across Dusseldorf.

Finally got a chance to sample this hefeweizen at the Uerige Treff Im Carsch-Haus.

This hefeweizen poured a hazy, golden color with white foam that settled but clinged to the glass in places. Not as cloudy as a typical hefeweizen. The smell was malty with a light citrus aroma and a slight vegetal note. The taste was malty with light citrus and light sweetness. There was a light hoppiness beneath the wheat malt, and was especially evident in the foam. The mouthfeel was crisp with medium-light body and modest carbonation. This was an easy drinking wheat beer, but it was not a typical Bavarian hefeweizen.

Served on draft at a local beer bar at 42 degrees F and in a snifter. Beer is yellow and cloudy. Forms a thin white head with a lot of lacing. Carbonation is moderate.

Smell is almost non-existent. No esters, no fruits, some yeasty aroma, almost smells like a blonde ale.

Almost no flavor to this one as well. Odd acrid flavor at the back of the mouth, some odd acid, this is really unfortunate. Eventually I begin to detect a slight citrus flavor. Too little, too late. Sorry. I am a big fan of hefe and this is a terrible example of one. Not a repeat at all.

Drinkability suffers due to that acid, mouthfeel is average, there is nothing special about this beer.
