Morgazm Grapefruit Zested Blonde Ale brewed by DuClaw Brewing Company, with an ABV of 5.00% This American Blonde Ale pours out a nice golden amber color with a small white head. There is a decent amount of lacing to this brew, it sticks to the side of the glass well. The smell is citrus, grains and malts. You also pick up on some mild hops in the smell. Now for the taste, it is crisp with flavors. You pick up on the grapefruit zest. There is also some nice grains and malts flovors in this brew. Light on the hops but they are in there. The body of Morgazm Grapefruit Zested Blonde Ale is a light to medium. This is a smooth easy drinking brew. Was kinda hoping more for this brew, not saying it bad but I was looking for something different. There is nothing overpowering about this brew, it has a real nice balance to it. The mouth feel of Morgazm Grapefruit Zested Blonde Ale is grapefruit , Clean, Smooth, and Refreshing. Overall I'm giving this brew a 4 out of 5. I would look this brew up again givin the chance to. DuClaw Brewing Company, did a nice job with this one.

Poured from a cask. After seeing reviews mentioning carbonation issues and thinness, I decided to give it a try because it was on cask. Definitely makes a difference. The mouthfeel benefits from the pour. It maintains a nice thick foam and lacing. The nose is still very mild. Those who mentioned sourness hit it right in the head - the grapefruit is very forward and balances nicely with the hops. Can't judge a bottle or tap but if you see it on cask, I recommend giving it a try.

Morgazm Grapefruit Zested Blonde Ale | DuClaw Brewing Company. Poured from the bottle into a pint glass, the head is two fingers thick, with spotty lacing, and a golden amber body.

I smell really just a hint of the grapefruit with the hops and grains.

Tastes like bright and clear malts with just a tad of bitterness with the hops and grapefruit. Clean and quenching finish.

Medium-light mouthfeel with mild carbonation.

Overall, I'll choose to give Morgazm Grapefruit Zested Blonde Ale | DuClaw Brewing Company a 4.25

12oz single bottle - ah, now we're back to the DuClaw sexual innuendo that we all know and love!

This beer pours a clear, bright medium copper amber colour, with three fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and bubbly off-white head, which leaves a bit of random limestone formation lace around the glass as it slowly recedes.

It smells of red grapefruit rind, gritty and grainy pale malt, further indistinct citrus esters, and maybe a sense of earthy, weedy, and piney green hop bitterness. The taste is gritty and grainy pale malt, a bit of white saltine cracker, zingy grapefruit juice, a small peppery spiciness, mild lemon/lime soda essences, and more understated leafy, weedy, and wet pinecone verdant hoppiness.

The carbonation is adequate in its palate-satisfying frothiness, the body a so-so middleweight, and mostly smooth, as the grapefruit character can't possibly affect my enjoyment at this juncture, at this point in my beer appreciation, er, 'journey'. It finishes trending dry, the varied vector citrus and bled-out malt unsteadily escorting us to the exit.

Overall, this is just a mildly disappointing version of the augmented style, as the titular portmanteau pretty much fails on both accounts. Sure, there's grapefruit aplenty goin' on here, but it seems muted and wan, instead of zesty, and um, 'gazmic'. Not worthy of the 6 bucks this one cost me, I'm afraid to say.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass

L: Clear light golden yellow pour. 1 finger of foamy white head. Falls fast... not much lacing.

S: Grapefruit juice.

T/F: Light cereal/grains... lots of citrus... lemonade and grapefruit. Very 1-dimensional. Not offensive... but nothing I'd seek out again either. Light in body... zesty carbonation. Finish is citrus.

O: Pretty 'meh'. Another forgettable lawnmower citrus beer.

A- 12oz bottle into a becher with a clarified golden body and a small creamy white cap. The head ends up at around half an inch tall falling down quickly to a wide but thin ring around the edges. Horizontal lines of lacing form after a few sips.

S- Minimal and faint with the grapefruits making up the primary aromas with juice and to a lesser extent peel coming out. Pale base barley and cereal hints in the backdrop.

T- On the taste buds the hops are much more noticeable with the hops primarily bringing that Citra profile of lime, citrus fruits and some tropical hints like mango. Again, the grapefruit runs the show with some juice and zesty peel oils. A base of cereal, cracker, bready grain and a touch of pale fruit esters. Light sweetness.

MF- The medium body has a texture that is right down the line between creamy and puffy. The high level of carbonation is very much padded and the aftertaste brings a citrus zest bitterness.

On one hand I like that the grapefruit isn't extreme like some other grapefruited brews lately but at the same time a bit more hops would go a long way as this brew is sort of lacking a star, central theme. Balanced but just a bit boring.

12 oz bottle. Pours orange with tall, long-lasting, foamy white head and nice lacing. Nose is of bready malt, tropical fruit and citrusy hops. Body is full and very tangy. Taste is sour, tart, citrusy hops, lemon zest, bready malt and tropical fruit. Finish is long and sour. Good brew if you like sour.

12 oz bottle poured into a Creature Comforts glass.

A: clear amber with a huge, fluffy white head that quickly went over the top of my 16 oz glass with only about 1/3 of the bottle poured. The head settled slowly and left nice lacing on the glass.

Aroma: a hoppy, earthy smell featuring hay and grapefruit. Too dank.

Flavor: More hops than malt, for sure, yet decent balance. Mildly bitter but high bitterness for style. Mildly dank and funky.

M: high carbonation; medium-light body. A bit of dryness in the finish.

Overall: Disappointing.

I recently completed a fairly comprehensive horizontal of DuClaw's beers as part of the Bottle Backlog Eradication here at Chez Woody, so I was a tad surprised that there were still some of there beers that I had not reviewed. Thanks to the Friendly Greek Bottle Shop here in Lancaster, PA for providing me this opportunity.

From the bottle: "Ride the vibe of this Blonde Ale, Citra dry-hopped to add lemon notes, and infused with grapefruit zest for a tart, refreshing taste that keeps you in the mood all night. Pop the top, and ... get your juices flowing!"; "Respect_the_Fluid".

I love to Pop! the top! It is one of the few things that I actually do enjoy about these confounded bottles. It was a brand-new bottle, so I felt confident in my heavy-handed pour. The head came rushing up so quickly that I had to back off and allow it to settle into two fingers of dense, rocky, tawny head with decent retention that left sticky lacing behind as it fell. Color was a slightly-hazy Deep Amber/Light Copper to Copper (SRM = > 13, < 17). Nose had the typical cattiness associated with Citra, but accompanied by the tart citrusiness of grapefruit. I am curious to taste it. Man, it was VERY bitter! The grapefruit seemed overwhelming and the dry-hopping that they mentioned seemed like it may have been heavy-handed, resulting in an oversaturated granular quality on the tongue. Finish was dry, gaspingly so, actually. Color me ... unimpressed.

From the bottle, it pours a slightly hazy amber with a nice head, which lasts a bit. Definitely noticed the grapefruit in the nose. The mouth gets a grapefruity bite along with the malt.
