Misfit Red was served on-tap at the Arundel Mills location. The ale was served chilled in a yellow Pint Club tumbler.

Appearance: The ale has a light amber color, clear with no sediment. The ale is moderately carbonated but betrays no hint of a head.

Smell: The ale has a light hop aroma that is balanced out by a biscuity malt aroma. The aroma is average.

Taste: The ale has an inoffensive taste. The hops do not stand out, making the ale come across as somewhat bland. The malt character works in much the same manner: it does not offend but it does not stand out either.

Mouthfeel: The ale is well-balanced and smooth. It is not for a hophead, but it may be an excellent gateway for those getting into the craft brewing lifestyle.

Drinkability: Maybe a little too strong to be a session ale, this beer is good for pounding a few. If you are looking for hops though, look to Venom.

Growlered from the Belair location.
Dark amber and clear. Thick, luscious, creamy, buttery khaki head that settled beautifully to a very thick covering with chunky holes in it. Very mild roasted malt scent, not much is jumpking out at you. Very porter like in the mouthfeel and taste. Smooth feeling with a just enough of a bite coming out from peppery hoppiness. Nice roasted malt flavors and lightly darkened toast. I get a teensy bit of an almost sasafrass flavor in the aftertaste. This is nicely drinkable, very smooth and with decent flavors and not too intense. Very enjoyable.

Its clear, very deep amber body is capped by a short head of creamy white foam that dissipates quickly leaving behind little lace. The nose is malty and lightly toasty with a touch of fruit. The body is medium, and it gently caresses the tongue with its fine, moderate carbonation. The flavor follows the aroma; balanced towards maltiness with a subtle touch of roastiness and some spicy hop flavor. It's perfectly balanced (which in a way seems to dampen its character), and it finishes short and dry. An easily accessible and drinkable beer, but without enough character to make you want more than one or two.

This was a nice red ale, went excellent with the Ahi Tuna and rice I had for dinner. Pleasant not memorable smell, Sweet malty taste with a hint of what seemed like berries. Wasn't too sweet, wasn't too bitter, as Goldilocks would say, it's just right. This beer is perfect if you want to drink multiples of one type of beer.

Tasted this at the Arundel Mills location. Poured a very deep amber with a brown head that sticks around as a cap all the way down. Faint caramel malt on the nose with a hint of grassy hops. Taste is more caramel malts, with a slight roasted flavor and a sharp hoppy finish. This is a drinkable beer, but I prefer the Venom and the Porter or any of the seasonals to this.

A: Ruby red and 1 finger white head.

S: Almost nothing. This is really disappointing with it's lack of aroma.

T: Caramel, weird hopping that is herbal and floral.

M: Medium and nicely carbed.

O: Not good. This beer lacks any balance, flavor or aroma. Really sad since most of DuClaw really hits the mark.
