I am getting the hang of this new way of doing reviews, which is helpful during the ongoing Bottle Purge of the Summer of 2014.

From the bottle: "Lead us into Temptation"; "Nothing rouses the congregation like this medium-bodied, copper colored Oktoberfest Lager. The heavenly flavor and aroma of roasted malt are tempered by a crisp, clean finish for a sensual sermon guaranteed to ... Lead us into temptation!"; "Respect_the_FLUID".

I do so love watching the pseudo-cascade when I employ a heavy-handed pour! In this case, it settled into three-plus fingers of dense, tawny head with great retention. I am really liking the visuals on these Oktoberfests! Color was again a Deep Amber/Light Copper to Copper (SRM = > 13, < 17) with unbelievable NE-plus quality clarity. I could see into the future through this fluid, which I respect. Nose had a more pronounced malt quality, but still with a grassiness. Mouthfeel was thick, dense, and full. The taste was nutty, biscuity, some honey and hay or grass. I thought of biscuits straight out of the oven, drizzled with honey and taken out in the field to eat so as not to make a mess in the house. This was not unusual at my late maternal grandmother's house during the summer when I was a kid. Both of my grandmothers were excellent cooks, BTW. Great lacing began to appear as I drank, lost in the reverie of my memories. Finish was semi-sweet and although German purists might find fault with it, I liked that the sweetness often found in the style was kept to a minimum.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a lightly hazed copper color with very smell off white head. The head fades rather fast, leaving a persistent foam on the surface of the beer and a little bit of lacing on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The nose of the beer is sweet and malty with the sweeter smells being largely of a caramel and toffee smell and the malty being a blend of toasted malt and bready smells. Some fruity aromas of a pear as well as some cherry are in the nose as well.

Taste – The taste begins with a rather thick and sweet bready taste with a little bit of a roasted nature. The sweet flavors are a mix of toffee and brown sugar with both of these growing even stronger as the taste advances onto the end. A little bit of a roasted flavor joins the tongue, but the bready flavors also become more doughy in nature as the taste advances, giving the brew a very sweet and malty taste. A tiny bit of darker fruits of plum and a little bit of an earth hop come to the tongue at the end, leaving a rather sweeter and malty flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thicker and chewier side with a carbonation level that is on the lower side. For the malty and sweet the feel is quite appropriate really creating a thick and coating feel for the brew.

Overall – In some respects the thickness and sweet maltiness was a bit cloying and too much. Not an Oktoberfest I would likely frequent often.
