The bottle backlog is being reduced here in Chez Woody's kitchen and since a Strawberry Blonde just departed, I decided to cut to the chase on my next beer and bring in a Bare Ass Blonde. I marvel at the fact that this beer has been on the site for over a decade and yet it is my very recent picture that illustrates it. Ha!
From the bottle: "Our Blonde bombshell will turn your head with her smooth, light malt flavor, mild hop character, and crisp, refreshing finish. But don't let the innocent look fool you, she's got a way of stripping away all pretense and getting right to ... the naked truth"; "Respect_the_Fluid".
As usual, I went with a heavy-handed pour and sat back as the pseudo-cascade happened. I was a little surprised last summer when the Old Lady expressed her dismay at my pouring this way, but I like both the visual and the release of esters. This time, I got two foamy fingers of bone-white head that slowly collapsed on itself, leaving decent lacing in its wake. Color was a slightly hazy golden yellow (SRM = 4 - 5). Nose was very malty, but in a biscuit malt, not a sweet malt, way. Bring your Bare Ass closer, honey! Warming, it also began to take on a honey-like sweetness and now it was time for a sip. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full and the taste was very biscuit-like, making a nice counterpoint to the earlier Blonde. Finish was semi-dry, again more biscuit malty than sweet, and a nice choice on a humid Summer evening.

A: Light tangerine orange with a slight haze and mixture of micro-macro effervesce rising at a rapid rate. Dirty eggshell colored head was thin with a skimmy covering and was weakly holding providing little to no gracing coverage.
S: Aroma was dry flowers, hay, oranges and light pilsner grains. Lightly dry.
T: Flavor was lightly dry pilsner and hay malting with some lightly dry oranges and flowers. A touch of herbaceous hops with some light grapefruit peel, tart orange that was thankfully quick and clean off the tongue upon the swallow.
M: fairly sharp carbonation wise, a bit alkaline and powdery with a malty-syrupy backing of light to medium density.
O: Overall wasn't to impressed at first, but the pilsner grain backing and semi-dry flowery hops soon grows on you coming more to light and saving this from a mediocre rating.
