Big white head floats on top of hazy gold. The high carbonation is very evident. Nose is overflowing with orange, coriander, and spicy yeast, just like it should be. Sweet grapes and honey come through first followed by orange and lemon. Mix of pepper and a touch of bitterness from the hops at the end. There might even be a touch of anise.

Light, crisp, refreshing. All the familiar flavors of a Belgian Witbier, with a few different ones to make it more interesting. Plus, at only 4.8% ABV, you can easily enjoy several of these. I’m quite impressed.

12 oz bottle into a tumbler. It looks like it’s time to unretire this one, as it is now available year-round in six packs.

Pours a slightly hazed gold, topped with 1 ½ fingers of foamy bright-white head. This retains with roughly a ¼ finger, leaving back a cascade of fizzy looking lacing. The aroma has an all around fresh airiness to it in the nose, with notes of fruit (orange zest is really coming out) and light toasted bread. Coriander runs through, giving off a breezy spiciness in the nostrils.

The taste is mostly a combo of wheat, oats, and soft fruit flavors giving this a crisp twang on the palate. Coriander is present but adds a fairly light spiciness to the profile here, lingering into the finish along with some notes of dry bitter citrus peel. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a lively crispness to the carbonation and is generally pretty easy feeling in the mouth.

While not the most full flavored Whit Beer out there, I was pleased to at least find that this didn’t overdo it with the coriander and kept a relatively crisp yet easy feel to it that matched up well with those flavors of fruit and wheat. You could do worse than one of these on a hot summer day.

I am surprised to see that this beer is retired. I was at Cliff's liquors about a month ago and this beer was not there. On my visit yesterday there was a fresh supply of it. Anyway, poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a cloudy golden color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of citrus and spices. Taste is the same, corriander, oranges, possibly a touch of clove, very refreshing. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a good quality beer.

This is a growler of Sawtooth consumed over several hours.

Appearance: The ale is a hazy goldenrod color with a bit of head.

Smell: Coriander, oranges and light airy wheat dominate the nose.

Taste: The spices are strong enough to remind one of the beer's pedigree. The spices are strong enough to be known, but do not dominate.

Mouthfeel: The ale sits well enough on the palate.

Drinkability: In the past 2 weeks, I've had this on tap, on firkin and in growler, so that says something.

Poured from the bottle into a Hoegarden glass tumbler.

A very white and gaseous sudsy white head, shampoo like in appearance, settles into a thin collar. Body is a cloudy dull orange.

Nose doesn't bring much excitement. Mix of orange spice and malt. Some zest. Theater movie popcorn diacetyl just a little, with some dry grain action. Not too bad.

In the palate a very noticeable sweet orange, not unlike the curacao that mentions. Incredibly soda fizzy texture that detracts. Malt and chewy wheat component is not really coming to notice.

Overall a nice orange sense to this in the palate that doesn't come across as fake, but it's missing the classic wheat body I associate with this style. It is drinkable though.

Pours a cloudy, light golden liquid with a thin white head. The head disappeared quickly. There was some lace on the glass at the end. The smell was slightly floral and spicy. Tasted slightly sour, followed by a hint of spice (perhaps corriander). To be honest, it needed a bit more spice. Mouthfeel was light bodied, with a fairly high amount of carbonation. Overall, this beer was refreshing, however it needed more flavor. Sort of a watered down white beer.

Appearance, cloudy gold, typical Witbier. Smell, orange with that hint of coriander. Mouthfeel is crisp and clean, and very nice on the tongue. Taste, throw in a lime and this beer is great. Nicely done for a Witbier, this is by far one of the best. Much better that the more popular brands. Overall this is a good beer to have in the fridge for those ladies. Well done.

Appearance - this is a fun beer to watch. Its standard pale yellow/white that pours a 2 finger fizzy head. The carbonation is crazy and violent like a volcanic vent at the bottom of the ocean. Head retention hold long time since there is so much carbonation bubbling up.

Smell - Smells of lemon and straw like a nice Belgian Blonde Ale. Could pass as a Belgian beer from Europe.

Taste - Very nice Belgian style Witbier/blonde ale true to the style.

Mouthfeel - not crazy about the fizzy head and overly carbonated feeling in the mouth.

Overall - A fine job at a Belgian white. Very authentic to its style and nice duplication of style from other side of pond.

A: Clear body. White nice 1 finger head.

S: Belgian yeast, orange, coriander and some bread.

T: Delicious and subtle Belgian yeast. This is a much more sessionable witbier that isn't over the top with phenols. Good stuff.

M: Crisp and full bodied. Nice and thick.

O: This beer is awesome. I love the body and the subdued Belgian yeast qualities. Great.

Reviewed from notes. Perhaps not retired, as I had this in Fall 2009. Guess that was long ago now, though still quite a bit further down the road than the previous review.

Pours a cloudy yellow gold with a white head. The nose is light citrus and coriander with a bit of yeast. The taste is a bit of drawdown. Light citrus and a bit of spice. Light feel with moderate spice. Easy drinking and a bit tasty.

I am totally grateful to tone77 for his recent drop-off of bottled beers. Many of them are drinking quite nicely in this searing heat.

From the bottle: "This untamed Belgian-style White Ale leads the pack with a nose of coriander, a bite of REAL Curacao Bitter Ornage and a crisp clean finish that is sure to leave you howling for more ... Howl for it".; "Respect the Fluid".

I have abandoned a soft pour for this style. It made little sense to me as someone who routinely drinks the lees and was making for a beer unintended by the brewer. I apologize for my transgressions. I got a finger of bone-white head briefly from my pour, but even the heartiest of us are wilting in the unrelenting heat. Color was a soft, cloudy lemon-yellow, undoubtedly as intended. If coriander imparts a black pepper bite, then the nose was filled with it. And it did not make me sneeze, unlike the Monks' Wit earlier today. Mouthfeel was filled with carbonation but the spiciness was not as prevalent on the tongue as it had been on the nose. Aw. Finish was dry with a nice admixture of pepper and orange, as advertised. Very refreshing as I continue to melt away.
