12 ounce bottle w/o freshness/bottleing date info.

Pours is clear almond amber, moderate lite tan head, goes to a meager film, thin collar and moderate lace left on the glass.

Bold nose of malts, vanilla, and maple with pine hops in the rear.

First, this beer is quite thick and full on the body/mouthfeel scale...more vanilla and bready malts, over a relatively minor hop presence. Has the feel and attitude of a barley wine, w/o the ABV.

Ehh, decent brew, but not really lovin it on a warm summers day. I like my AIPA's with more of a citric bite and a more zesty feel. Again, this feels more like a nice option for a cold winters day...

The appearance was a nice slightly hazy orange but it still showed a decent looking transparency. The head was about a nice white color that dissipated within less than thirty seconds and it left a decent looking soapy looking lacing. The smell had a decent allocation of piney to citrus to earthy hops. The taste was mostly bitter but it did allow a decent sweetness to come out as the beer warmed. On the palate, this one sat at/about a medium in body with a fairly decent sessionability running about the mouth and tongue. The carbonation was good for the style as it had a good harshness pummeling my tongue. Overall, good AIPA well worthy of having again.

This beer was a surprise for me. Blind tasted it against Firestone Union Jack and Jai Alai, and to my surprise, it was a better IPA, more balanced, fine quality taste, depth. Rich, complex, apricot, honey note, darn good. I encourage everyone to do blind taste test comparisons.
