22oz bottle poured into tulip

Pours a deep chestnut brown, nearing black color with a tuft of tanned head resting on top. Retains for a bit before fading into a slick of filmy residue with some patchy lacing on the glass.

Rich and chocolatey in the nose with touches of caramel and molasses. Pleasant hints of rye spice add another dimension to the aroma, followed by hefty roasted dark malt and soft warmth.

A one-two punch of smooth milk chocolate and rye spice right up front. Cocoa powder and molasses with caramel. Thick malty backbone with roasted, warm tones. Finishes with lingering rye bitterness and semi-sweet chocolate.

Fuller medium body, decent carbonation, creamy and chewy on the tongue. This was a nice combo of sweet and bitter with the welcome addition of chocolate and rye malts. I've tried a bunch of their beers recently and this was easily one of the better options.

Exile 1 pours black with a small tan lacing head. There is a roasted and slight chocolate aroma. The taste is dry, has a nice roasted flavor, and some chocolate notes; the chocolate is not overpowering. Good body nice flavors. Overall it s a nice full porter with some goo flavors.

Enjoyed in a snifter.

A - Very dark inky black colour with a thin layer of light brown head.

S - Sweet chocolate, molasses, roast and lighter spice and coffee aromas.

T - Sweet milk chocolate, molasses, roast and a light spiciness form the rye. Gets very sweet as I continue to drink it.

M - Medium, almost full body. Light carbonation.

Poured from a 22oz bomber into a Libbey Stout/Porter glass.

A: Pours a deep and mysterious opaque black with a nice thick mocha colored head which lasts and lasts.

S:Chocolate, some rye spiciness, slight fruitiness

T: Chocolate, dark malts, roasty, spicy, slightly fruity. Not much hops flavor, no lingering bitterness.

M: Full bodied and satisfying. No burn from the carbonation, no alcohol heat.

O: Great job, guys. This is a really good beer. I will buy this again if I can find it. It works well on a winter evening.
