22oz bottle into snifter. Thanks again StormKing47!
A: Pours near black with a thin dark brown head that faded to spotty soapy lace.
S: Mild roasted chipotle notes with a touch of milk chocolate milkshake and caramel.
T: Creamy and semi-sweet milk chocolate up front with roasted pepper and spice in the finish. The aftertaste is pepper and linger burn. Good roasted flavor, balancing hershey syrup.
M: Full body, fairy thick mouthfeel with a good chew to it. Nice smooth pepper burn, low carbonation.
O: The perfect balance of heat and sweet. Delicious.

H.E.R.O pours a black color, with a large lacing tan head. There is a sweet chocolate aroma. The taste has a nice mellow cocoa powder flavor, with a mellow smokey chipotle flavor near the end. Good full flavor, good complete body. Overall a well executed complex beer.

HERO 2012, well, this is awesome. Pours a dark opaque black with a thin cap of tightly bubbled carbonation. Smells of smokey peppers, cacao, and roasted grain. Taste is pure joy. A nice stout with a hint of sweetness, full bodied roasted character, and a smokey pepper finish. A tingle of heat, but nothing that builds in the chest or lingers long. Mouthfeel was decent, though I would have liked it to be just a bit thicker. Overall, a brew I hope DuClaw brings back as a regular.

Super dark brown in appearance there was limited head retention.
Dry cracker scent with bits of chocolate and earthy tones, not much else but not bad.
The feel is all Chile spiciness. The spiciness hits in a manner of burn in the throat that builds with each swallow. The Chile taste is more or less absent and feel only, but does decorate a chocolate milk shake like taste. Perhaps a novelty but a very good novelty.

Thanks to mwrecording for hooking me up with a bottle of this.
Poured from a 22oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours dark brown, borderline black in color with a small, off-white head that reduces to a thin ring around the top after a few minutes. Appears very still, pretty much how you want a stout to look.
S: A nice blend of dark bitter and milk chocolates up front. Which is followed by a mild, yet significant spicy/smokey aroma from the chiptole.
T: The taste doesn't quite live up to the aroma as the chipotle smokiness seems a little muted, but the other flavors of chocolate and dark malts are there.
M: Definitely a thinner feel to this one than most high quality stouts. Finishes very smooth with an almost velvety texture.
O: Pretty danged good stout with a nice twist of the chipotle. The thin feel was a little bit of a let down, but all other aspects were solid. My first Duclaw was not a disappointment. Must get more when I can get my hands on it.
