Poured into a beer tulip. Pretty much no head at all. Smell is amazing, probably this beer's best characteristic; overwhelming chocolate, coffee, toasted malts and peanut butter, with a touch of butterscotch.
After the incredible aroma, the taste was a bit of a letdown. While the aroma is extremely powerful, the taste is light and reserved. It initially hits with malts and coffee, which fades quite rapidly into a lingering toasted peanut flavor. Almost no hop flavor at all. The peanut stays in the mouth for a minute or so. Not a whole lot in the way of chocolate flavor.
Overall, the beer tastes good, but doesn't live up to expectations. The initial flavor fades much too rapidly, and lacks complexity overall. Good, but not great.
