Notes/Commercial Description:
Pre-Prohibition style salutes a time when lagers had greater character and more distinct flavor, when beer wasn't full of the additives found in many of today's mainstream lagers. Lucky Bucket's version has a light, malty flavor that's easy on the palate. Filtered twice, the subtle maltiness nicely balances a floral hop. Dry-hopped with a fresh blend of aromatic West Coast hops, Lucky Bucket Lager is a great session beer with an ABV of 4.5% and 20 IBU's.

Poured into a pint glass.

A- Citrus and a light bread smell. Fruity notes are present that suggest a high fermentation temp to me.

A- Amber, clear. Interesting "steam" comes out of the bottle when you open it.

F- A little tartness hits you up front. Crisp flavors and perhaps a little mineral flavor. The malt is behind the scenes but still there. I don't taste the "adjunct" flavors others describe. Not sure what they are getting at. There's some citrus flavors present as well.

M- Average carbonation. Nice full body. Not at all thin like I think of with adjuncts.

O- A pleasant beer to drink a few of. Not really a great beer in my opinion, but a nice one to have and not think too much about. Tastes great, Less filling, but for real! This a go to easy drinking beer for me. It's regularly available at the local Whole Foods.

A- Thin head, no lacing. Amber body.

S- Malty and sweety with some biscuity notes.

T- Starts malty and semi sweet and transitions into a dry floral finish.

M- Could use a little more carbonation here. Overall, a bigger body, especially give the 4.5 % ABV.

O- Drinkable but not memorable.

I was gonna start this review out by saying naw, naw no way, this ain't no APL, it's obvious an adjunct. But the bottle says it's 100% malt, so I dunno.

See, it smells and tastes a lot like corn. Very pleasantly, but still adjuncty. The malt is pale and simplistic. The hops are a little earthy, a little citrusy. And then this corniness just hangs over everything, inexplicable. It's a tangy grain taste. I usually associate it with corn. Kind of like lemongrass, but usually that means corn.

So, hmph. Guess I'll just go with my gut here:

This tastes nice. It's crisp and simple, but it's not quite like anything I've ever had before. It's sweet but not agressively so. Not particularly well balanced, but that's par for the style.

Upon opening, little smoke comes out. It pours with a thin head that does not retain and laces. The body is an amber brownish gold color. Bubbles rise to the top. It looks like a nice beer, but the stream of bubbles is not uniform nor is it a lot of bubbles which shows a good amount of carbonation but maybe there should be more.

It smells of grain, corn, hops, and some other fruity tones. The grain and hops are most prominent.

It has a nice bitter taste combination of hops and grain. The other things dont come in too much. I taste water also.

The mouthfeel is of a lot of carbonation which is good but I'd like there to be less.

Overall, its a good beer that I drink every once in awhile. I don't drink it a lot because I want a different taste in a beer. I like LB's IPA better.

12 oz (screw cap) bottle poured into a pint glass.

A: This stuff reminds me of ginger ale or n/a sparkling wine. Pale golden color. Huge and copious carbonation bubbles. Head fizzes up and disappears almost immediately. No lace. The color hue is the only reason this stuff doesn't get a 1 on appearance.

S: Champagne grapiness. Apple sauce, lemonade, yuzu.

T: Sour. This has a strange sweetness that seems to try to balance the sour pear cider-like flavor. This is not good.

M: Overly carbonated, chalky, crisp. Some puckering because of the sourness.

D: Never again. No way pre-prohibition beer was like this. If it were, no one would've been fighting for repeal. Gross.

Poured into a 12oz Tumbler Pint Glass

Appearance - Hazy Yellow and Dark Golden color. Pours a finger head that quickly disappears, along with some of the heavy carbonation.

Smell - Smells like sweet/sugary bread and yeast, with some cereal grains and a slight corny smell, but not too offensive.

Taste - Sour & Bitter yeasty taste along with cereal grains, malts and a slight hoppy aftertaste and. Nothing too impressive but nothing too bad either

Mouthfeel - It's light on carbonation and body. It's pretty smooth and it's a beer that's fairly easy to drink.

Overall - It's nothing special in terms of flavor, but at the same time, it serves its purpose as a beer and gets the job done as a light, easy to drink beer; albeit a very average beer

A: Clear and bubbly, lots of carbonation.

S: Initial herbal aroma followed by malty undertones.

T: Grains and malt. Some citrusy hops, but not a lot. Just a hint of bitterness, but again, not a lot. Bright and easy drinking.

M: medium body, lots of fizz.

A decent lager made locally.... so bonus points for that, haha. Slight aromas of malt, a white head, and a medium golden color. Mouthfeel is light which makes this beer an easy drinker. A pretty straight forward lager. Clean, crisp, and somewhat dry finish. Nothing special, but nothing to complain about.

The beer is a dark amber color with just a wisp of foam. The aroma is caramel malt with a few off-fruity notes lingering in the shadow. This continues onto the palate where the sweetness goes awry midway through conjuring up unpleasant thoughts. The off flavors are strangely sour. These aspects are not so objectionable to make it undrinkable, but they are noticeable. The beer finishes with a whimper. Whether pre-prohibition or post-prohibition, the beer is not historic.

12 oz. bottle poured into a tulip glass.

Appearance-Gold in color and brilliantly clear. Medium, nearly white head with decent retention.

Aroma-Herbal/spicy and slightly noble hop profile with a bready/Pils malt base, and slight grain notes. Touch of skunk fades quickly. Lightly sweet and fresh smelling.

Flavor-Bready Pils malt and saltine cracker with a faint herbal hop note and a light crack of hop bitterness in the finish. Relatively clean but not that crisp in the finish.

Mouthfeel-Medium body with moderate, soft carbonation. I wish the finish were a bit crisper-it would make for a more refreshing beverage.

Quite solid for an American Lager-a decent example of a fancy lawn mower beer if you will. I just wish that it finished a little bit crisper-as it is, it feels just a little flabby.
