Notes & Commercial Description:
Beer added by: kernel on 08-22-2009

Pre-Prohibition style salutes a time when lagers had greater character and more distinct flavor, when beer wasn't full of the additives found in many of today's mainstream lagers. Lucky Bucket's version has a light, malty flavor that's easy on the palate. Filtered twice, the subtle maltiness nicely balances a floral hop. Dry-hopped with a fresh blend of aromatic West Coast hops, Lucky Bucket Lager is a great session beer with an ABV of 4.5% and 20 IBU's.

bottle into a pint glass. honey colored, kind of thin looking with lots of bubbles. not much white head and almost no lace

smells like honey and hops and a little bready

taste is hops, sweet, malt, hops and sweet again.

a bit thin in the mouth, feels more like a soda than a beer.

overall, pretty average, but not bad

Poured into a 12oz Tumbler Pint Glass

Appearance - Hazy Yellow and Dark Golden color. Pours a finger head that quickly disappears, along with some of the heavy carbonation.

Smell - Smells like sweet/sugary bread and yeast, with some cereal grains and a slight corny smell, but not too offensive.

Taste - Sour & Bitter yeasty taste along with cereal grains, malts and a slight hoppy aftertaste and. Nothing too impressive but nothing too bad either

Mouthfeel - It's light on carbonation and body. It's pretty smooth and it's a beer that's fairly easy to drink.

Overall - It's nothing special in terms of flavor, but at the same time, it serves its purpose as a beer and gets the job done as a light, easy to drink beer; albeit a very average beer

12 oz (screw cap) bottle poured into a pint glass.

A: This stuff reminds me of ginger ale or n/a sparkling wine. Pale golden color. Huge and copious carbonation bubbles. Head fizzes up and disappears almost immediately. No lace. The color hue is the only reason this stuff doesn't get a 1 on appearance.

S: Champagne grapiness. Apple sauce, lemonade, yuzu.

T: Sour. This has a strange sweetness that seems to try to balance the sour pear cider-like flavor. This is not good.

M: Overly carbonated, chalky, crisp. Some puckering because of the sourness.

D: Never again. No way pre-prohibition beer was like this. If it were, no one would've been fighting for repeal. Gross.

Appearance: translucent, goldish brown, no head (tap)

Smell: hops and some malt. Pretty straightforward.

Taste:heavier than a traditional American lager, but still easy drinking. A little grainy, a little hoppy, a nice of balance of not too intense flavors

Mouthfeel: light, smooth

Drinkability:See mouthfeel & taste. A great, straightforward brew for drinking on a summer day.

Lucky Bucket Lager
I had never heard of this beer. A co-worker gave me this sample which was give to him from the brewer. (cousin)

Great label.
Looks like an amber. A little cloudy.
Near perfect head and settling foam.
Smell is clean, with a touch of graininess.
The first sip catches my by surprise. I didn't expect this much flavor. The hops are prominent and delicious.
This beer finishes clean and quick. Good drinkablity.
