Notes/Commercial Description:
Pre-Prohibition style salutes a time when lagers had greater character and more distinct flavor, when beer wasn't full of the additives found in many of today's mainstream lagers. Lucky Bucket's version has a light, malty flavor that's easy on the palate. Filtered twice, the subtle maltiness nicely balances a floral hop. Dry-hopped with a fresh blend of aromatic West Coast hops, Lucky Bucket Lager is a great session beer with an ABV of 4.5% and 20 IBU's.

Clear bodied, but there is a haze. Small white head. Darker gold. Pale malt nose, biscuity. Taste is nice pale malt, light hop, fairly malty for the style. Maybe a hint of fruit. Light mouth, kinda dry. I guess a bit more malt would make it a bit better, but its certainly not bad at all. A nice summer sipper.

A - Pours a deep copper with a one-finger white head head. The head dissapates quickly leaving some light sticky lacing.

S - Faint aromas of bread, yeast, and biscuity malt.

T - Taste has a lot of caramel sweetness and bready malt. There is a light hop bitterness in the finish.

M - Medium bodied with high carbonation. Very crisp mouthfeel.

O - This is an average beer. Nothing to complex, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Pre-Prohibition Style Lager
Lucky Bucket Brewing Co.
Style: American Pale Lager
ABV: 4.50 %

LOOK: Deep golden straw color with a fine clarity and carbonation rising briskly to the surface. A bit dark to be considered pale, this lager sits beneath a white head leaving wisps of lace.

SMELL: Bread, caramel, grains and floral hops are all there up front. Typical lager aromas suggesting hops and some sweetness.

TASTE: A well balanced beer, with sweet caramelized grains upfront and a sturdy leafy bitterness as well. Faint citrus, brown sugar and herbal elements. Finishes clean and bready with an even finish.

FEEL: Medium bodied, yet crisp, clean and refreshing. Well carbonated brew.

OVERALL: A solid, serviceable lager from Lucky Bucket. Drinks easily with mellow and agreeable flavor. A perfect companion for a hearty meal, this would go great with a loaded burger and fries.

A pre-prohibition style lager (NO ADJUNCTS), 12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass 4.5% ABV

A - Golden, though more orange than a standard lager. Head disappeared almost immediately.

S - Slightly malty aroma.

T - Malty, just slightly hoppy and bitter. Slightly crisp. Fairly clean finish, not much aftertaste (especially compared to any Macro)

M - Medium carbonation, with medium body.

D - very drinkable, could easily have many of these at once. A good first effort from a local Nebraska brewer.

Thanks Mom!

Appearance: Striking dark gold with an inch of tan foam that receeds quickly. Leaves no lacing. +4 for that rich golden color even without lacing.

Smell: Faintly sour, malty.

Taste: Heavy on the malt, but not overly sweet. Slight hops come through toward end. Finishes dry and somewhat crisp. Easy to drink.

Mouthfeel: Medium body, decently carbonated. Crisp.

Overall: On my fourth bottle of the six pack. Perfectly drinkable and Lucky Bucket did a fair job recreating the old lager style, it certainly has the taste. But it never was that good to begin with, was it?

Poured from bottle into pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours an orange/ amber color with a one finger off white head. The head faded over a moderate amount of time to give a light amount of lacing.

Smell – The aroma was heavy of grain and bread. It has a big biscuit and dark wheat bread smell. Mixed with these aromas are notes of light caramel and some floral and earthy hop.

Taste – The taste begins big of a biscuit and caramel sweet flavor. As it advances some flavors of wheat and earthy hop meet the tongue. These flavors overall create a smooth taste and take the flavor to the end where they are met with a very light floral and pine hop which when combine with the caramel and biscuit take the taste to the end where they leave a nice slightly bitter flavor to linger on the tongue..

Mouthfeel –The body of the beer is on the lighter side with a slightly higher then average carbonation level. The higher carbonation makes for a good refreshing beer.

Overall – A easy drinking fairly nice flavor profile makes for a decent session beer. Not bad, but nothing to go out of your way for.

A: Orange-amber and bubbly with a steady one-inch head; not a whole lot of lacing

S: Grainy--with a slight sour mash aroma; lots of just your basic grain/straw aroma; subtle citrus; fairly subtle and subdued overall but pleasant enough

T: A very pleasant grainy quality with just a touch of citrus hops on the finish; a touch sour too actually; nothing spectacular here but in the end it still is a nice session lager

F: Well carbonated and medium bodied; the beer even has a stickiness to it that works well

O: You know, this is a fine little lager; it is what it is but it's balanced and refreshing and sessionable
