Into a goblet it pours a dark tawny copper, fading into yellow orange in the lower meniscus of the glass. Ever present cap of sturdy foam that has a creamy texture to it's surface. Rings of lace are left behind, and the head never breaks. Brilliantly clear with saturated color.
Dry toasty malt aroma with some grassy noble hops at first that give it a slightly skunky impression.
Toasty and mellow, slight bitterness. Smooth feel, dry finish with residual malty flavor. Toasted biscuit, herbal tea. Light bodied, light carbonation, full flavored. Overall a nice traditional Alt, very fresh and tasty. Thanks for the OMB beer Wil!

Served in a half pint stange glass, cylinder shape, at The Olde Mecklenburg Tap Room. Copper is a Dusseldorf style alt bier, a lagered ale. It is traditional to drink in a half pint cylinder glass.
Appearance: Copper color; firm, frothy head
Smell: Freshly baked bread
Taste: Malty, complex, slightly sweet, apple, caramel, hoppy notes, balanced, smooth from start to finish. Excellent.
Body: Medium body
Comments: My favorite beer. If espresso is the essence of coffee, alt beer may be the essence of beer. It is full flavored, complex in flavor, and very smooth.
Copper pairs well with a variety of foods including: traditional German foods such as bratwurst, pork roast, turkey, lamb, and steak.

Consumed December 25th, 2013 at some generic eatery in Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
Beer is copper colored (duh) and clear. The head was less than one head tall, off-white, and quickly settled down into what looked like a culture in a petri dish.
Smoke caramel aroma with some nuttiness.
Flavor is more of the same: strong, nutty flavor with nice caramel base. Smooth, flavorful and good to drink. Pretty remarkable bitterness on the finish, not in the amount but in the assertiveness.
Some carbonation tingle, slightly thicker and creamier than expected.
This beer is a pleasant surprise and I'd be happy to drink this one again.
