Two elements in place here: downstairs, it's your dad's local. Pool table, booths, a bar, some tvs, and the grill. A little slice of the 70's, well preserved. Upstairs, it's the beer loft. Warm wood, more seating options, more tvs better suited for sports, and 30+ taps with a decent rotating variety. They could focus more local/regional, but we take what we can get.

Food is pretty good for bar food, with slightly overachieving specials. Get the 1106'er, it's fan-damn-tastic.

The place has potential. That said, it has consistently gotten worse over the last couple years. The beer selection is not nearly as good as when the beer loft first opened.

I must say, though, that with Pizza by Stout gone, this is easily the biggest beer selection of any bar in the are. Taps are usually clean, though I have had some issues with it. Bottles are bottles, but most times you have to ask for a glass with it.

Bottom line, this place opened with the promise of a beer bar, but increasingly serves the bud light crowd.

Easily the best establishment I have ever been to in regards to beer. This statement is made with places like Kansas City, Tokyo, and Dallas under consideration. Not only is the quantity of beer on tap amazing but the rarity and quality is extraordinary. From Trappist quadruples to IPAs to seasonal craft, 5th Street delivers. The food is absolutely incredible. Ken, the food guru, delivers in the best ways imaginable. From cheesesteak sandwiches to burgers to wings to the legendary local raised steak tips, the food never fails to impress.

A welcome sight in SE Kansas. The Beer Loft was added just recently to provide a larger selection of beer. It's upstairs in a roomy and open seating area. Bar is at the back end with 34 taps and two cooler doors. A small backroom can provide some beer at room temp, like the Rochefort 10.
Glassware is a work in progress, but they understand what is needed.
The selection is great for the area. Anything too complex and the market wouldn't be able to keep it afloat. Yet, they do have a good selection of "local" beers, by that I mean Kansas beers (manhattan, KC, lawrence). I had some Lost Coast Downtown Brown, bottle.

Food is the good stuff; grilled burgers etc. Good prices and service. Pittsburg is a small town, but home to Pittsburg State, so the crowd is varied.
Definite beer destination in SE Kansas.
I would like to see more variety of micros and imports, but the distribution and market just won't allow that at this time.
