Light and gold. Big old white bubbles on the top almost a full inch.

Soft winter wheat like notes on the tongue, a hefty amount of carbonation, some spice rack that seems misplaced. Generous old school c hop amounts. A light summertime wheat beer with no off flavors or off road adventures, sticks to the script for 90s wheat ales.

12 ounce bottle into weizen glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy golden amber color with a nice 1-2 finger white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of lemon, pepper, pear, apple, clove, caramel, bread, wheat, earth, and yeast spiciness. Pretty nice aromas with good strength and balance. Taste of lemon, apple, pear, pepper, wheat, biscuit, caramel, earth, and light yeast spices. Light bready tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of light fruit, wheat, bread, caramel, earth, and light yeast spices on the finish for a short bit. Good balance of flavors, but it is pretty watery. Medium carbonation and ; with a fairly creamy and crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a decent wheat ale. Fair amount of flavors with good balance; very smooth and easy to drink and not offensive. Enjoyable, but I have a feeling this was an old bottle from the taste profile.

This brew pours a golden orange color with a two finger head which lasts for a few minuets with lacing remaining on the glass until the end.

The smell is wheat, lemon, orange, sour apples, blackberry and spice, (possibly pepper).

The taste is strong on wheat and sweet malts, apples, some type of spice with a touch of hops on the back end to keep it from being too sweet.

The mouthfeel is crisp and cracker like; probably due to the good carbonation.

Overall this is a great summer wheat ale. It is what a wheat ale should be, wheat with some fruit taste, sweet malts with just enough hops to keep it from being too sweet. This is a great session beer for a hot summer day.

Light golden color, big accumulation of tight white bubbles. Aroma was faint lemon, wheat, carbonation.

Taste is soft, with an unidentifiable as of yet spice to it. A little much on the carbonation still. Real light mouthfeel and heft to the beer. Some decent cascade hopping I would guess for style. Can take on some wet cardboard notes with just a little bit of age, I dunno if that's the wheat or what.

Overall, its one of the lightest and least flavorful beers made by Anderson Valley, seems to be being pushed a little more now, more shelf space than it used to have 10 years ago, I guess someone likes it (or pushes it).

Appearance: Pours a cloudy honey color with a decent enough head that really should be more impressive, given the style; neither the retention nor the lacing were anything to write home about

Smell: Bready, with a vague lemon-apple aspect

Taste: Slightly sweet, up front, with the lemon and apple flavors joining the bread; little flavor development, though that never happens very often with many of the beers of this style

Mouthfeel: Medium body, slightly creamy, with moderate carbonation

Overall: Just slightly above average, and a tremendous let down from a brewery that makes some very good beers; though I did just buy the bottle, this beern may have been discontinued as I don't see it listed on their website

Pours a hazy pale straw hue which leaves a two finger head and clingy lacing everywhere, the smell is wheat,a touch of fresh apples, grains and sour lemon, the mouthfeel is light-medium bodied and has tastes of sour lemony wheat, sourdough, grains, fresh baked bread and finished with a touch of green granny smith apples mixed with wheat and overall i like how this is still very drinkable on a horrible wet day like today and this would be a cracker for the hot summer days cheers.

Gold, faintest haziness, med. White head soon thins to foamy ring.

Aroma is light grain, light apple juice, light citrus and peppery herbs- very nice overall, subtle but with some depth.

Taste is light, crisp fruity grain with hints of pear and apple, light sweetness up front but dyrer by the finish with a light peppery-leafy-faintly citrusy bitterness. It has a somewhat soft palate. It is very enjoyable, highly drinkable and light, yet with enough firm character to keep it interesting.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Look - pale golden or straw color. About 2 fingers worth of off-white colored foam that dissipates slowly. Good carbonation.

Smell - definitely smells like a wheat beer. Earthy and hoppy.

Taste and Mouthfeel - again, definitely wheaty, but not overpowering. Citrus taste, maybe lemon or orange peel. Sweet, not bitter at all. Texture is pretty well-balanced, but more toward the watery side.

Drinkability - very drinkable brew. Not terribly complex, but good tasting.

Pours a translucent pale golden with almost no haze. Decent sized white head. Nose is light with lemony citrus. Carbonation on palate is almost sodapop-like. Wheat cracker flavors, citrus zing, and grainy sweet on finish. Easy drinking, but almost watery. Above average for the style

Review from BeerAdvocate Magazine Issue #32 (Sep 2009):

The brewery suggests adding a lemon slice, but we think a good American Wheat Ale can stand on its own without the citric crutch.

The wheat did its work (and then some) with the head retention, as there is lacing all over the glass; pale amber-golden color shimmers its clarity in the light. Glad to see that this just wants to be a Wheat Ale and isn't trying to pretend to be something else. Big wheaty crispness does very well in the moderate-sized body; perfect level of carbonation here. Clean bready wheat and pale maltiness throughout, there is a slight lemony twang from the fermented wheat. Hops are extremely modest here, with just a kiss of flavor. Clean all the way, and the hops do help to balance just enough. Finishes crisp and on the dry side with a quick puckering freshness.

This is a no-frills yet highly drinkable and flavorful beer that isn't trying to be anything other than what it is: an American Wheat Ale. This is the Indian summer barbecue's best friend.
