Our Hop Ottin’ IPA is brewed and dry-hopped with copious amounts of Columbus and Cascade. This beer is a showcase of the bright citrusy aromas, bold grapefruit and pine-like flavors, and resiny bitterness that hop heads crave. With a brilliant, deep amber color and solid malt backbone, hints of citron, roses, and bergamot climax with a dry, herbal finish in this well-balanced interpretation of a West Coast IPA.

Not sure where I picked this bottle up, but it was sitting in the back of my very small pantry (smaller than a breadbox) and the weekend called for a tall brew to work off the stresses of being a graduate student. It pours a nice, deep orange-brown color, but it takes a few moments if investigation to pick up the scent. Once found, it exhibits a faint dry floral quality with some pine needles, though it gets airier and sweeter with every whiff. The flavor starts dry and crisp with a noble hops quality, and an added touch of toffee sweetness, but gets more and more dry near the end and the aftertaste. It has that continental quality of a pale ale, with balance, equanimity and a grain flavor over bitterness - exactly what I like.

Poured into a tall pint glass: color is a little dense copper, translucent; head is light tan with mixture of bubble sizes, presents about 1 inch thick and then lingers nicely.

Smell is somewhat average for an ipa, malt is toasty with light caramel, hops are a nice blend of earthy spice/pine/lemon/citrus rind.

Taste is a bit more hop forward with the bitterness hitting first then subdued my the maltier flavor of this ale; malt is toast and caramel (a bit more than i like) and then hops are earthy/piney with less citrusy notes.

Mouthfeel is very pleasant with an ideal carbonation level and no lingering flavors from the maltier profile.

Overall a solid IPA, a bit too malty for my preference with this hop blend but still nice tasting.

Poured into a pint glass, and it's a rich copper, burnt orange color with a yellow off white head. Aroma was good did get some citrus grapefruit, then pines & resin & grass smells. Taste was much more subdued than I thought to the point is was a but disappointing. Mouth feel was crisp bitter and went down easy. Overall I can't always expect fruity flowery hop bombs. Still just something missing from this but still good.

Wow, what a find! Hop Ottin' offers the palate a wonderful medley of flavors, with a citrusy bouquet overlaying notes of pine and malt. A very rewarding drinking experience - it will be one of my standby IPAs from now on.

L -- Dark amber color with a frothy white head, 2 fingers tall that dissipates quickly. Slight lacing.

S -- Grapefruit jumps out, slight pine scent, herbal as well.

T -- Nice strong hoppiness, but not overpowering like a hop bomb. Same grapefruit, pine, and herbal flavors as the head gives off. The pine flavor dominates more as I go along, but the herbal flavors subsist throughout. Taste the malt more as it warms.

F -- Resiney residue, but with the persistent carbonation it makes for a pleasant feel. The malts give it a more medium thickness, which I enjoy.

O -- Very solid IPA. Didn't blow my mind, but still very good and better than your average IPA.

An average pour and aroma mask a refreshing, crisp IPA. If you're looking for the bitterest beer around look elsewhere. If you're looking for an incredibly drinkable beer this isn't a bad choice.

Pours amber with a dirty white head. Aroma of herbal tea with some lemon and pine. A little toastiness underneath from the malt. Flavor follows suit. Medium bodied with some activity. Overall, boring IPA though well crafted. Wouldn't refuse a bottle, but will not seek it out again. Pass.

Aroma - low intensity for the style. Floral and malty.

Taste - semi sweet grapefruit with medium bitterness and generic maltyness. Pleasant, but not impressive.

Overall - middle of the road, conservative IPA.

Redish Amber color. Citrus and hops are very distinct with a little floral aroma. Orange peel is very distinct slightly piney with a slight grapefruit aroma and bitterness. Strong hops but not too overwhelming and perfectly balanced with malts. Leaves a slight lacing on the glass.

I don't know. Appearance is cloudy amber with a full, soft head;, smell is a little soapy; taste is a little soapy, too. What else? I like the full-bodied malt, though it's a bit too caramelly for my taste. Hops are indistinct--a little pine, a bit of floral character, not much citrus or spiciness. All in all, kind of a mish mash. The soapiness probably derives from the floral hops. Mouthfeel benefits from the oats, but I think that contributes to the soapiness too. I imagine my impression is in the minority, and maybe influenced by the fact that I just finished a Dogfish Head 60 Minute before pouring this Hop Ottin' IPA, but I don't think it's all that great overall. Not too bad, but ...

I don't understand the glowing praise this beer gets here. I had this on draft and it was a total malt bomb with some hints of pine but mostly just bitter hops over bready malts. Maybe this keg got left out in the sun for a week?

This was fresh and appalling. Overly malty and disgusting. Ipa? Really? Plays like a brown but tastes worse. The smell is also equally as disturbing and not a fan of this filth I was given

Pale golden-yellow color, decent head.

Fruity hoppy aroma, defined by orange, mango, lime and malts, with hints of wheat and pine.

Bitter from the beginning, bready malts bind the hops to a pleasant first impression. Carbonation is lively, supports the straigh, dry but very refreshing character of the beer. Pine, malts and hints of honey add complexity to this hop fixated IPA. Hop is very citraic, bitter from the first split-second, gets mixed up well with the other ingedients, creating a very hoppy but balanced beer. Mouthfeel is dry, chewy, hop punches the tastebuds. Fantastic long hoppy aftertaste, with lime still being present. Still some sweetness prevails for a long time, adding a syrupy note, which creates a great support for the hops.

I like hops but not ones that finish in a bitter, biting sort of way. The most entertaining thing about this beer is the label. Bear + deer antlers = beer. Get it?!@ Not very well balanced. This is to IPAs what Heineken is to Pilsners. A bitter hell.

Purchased as a single can from Total Wine, Tampa. Pours a semiopaque amber with white, pillowing head. Smells of tree-fruit, fig, berry, strawberry, and pine. Tastes like a berry IPA; lots of sweet, blueberry syrupyness followed by malts and caramel. Hints of dried apple and plantain throughout with "Belgian spice" (coriander/ginger/clove/etc.) and hops on the tail-end. A velvety body permeates sweetness throughout while the prickly carbonation that follows punctuates the hops and spice. The more I sip this beer, 2 things come to mind: First, that it feels like an American IPA & Belgium Triple hybrid and two, that it would go great with a bowl of strawberry cough.

12 fluid ounce can, poured into La Chouffe tulip.

A: Golden, slightly hazy, medium sized rocky head, with a slight tan, moderate retention.

S: West coast hops and citrus fruits, slight cocoa.

T: Started out with some strawberry like sweetness, this was quickly countered by grapefruit, which then lent bitterness that lingered, also had some burnt malt and gummi bears.

M: Light body, crisp, moderate carbonation.

O: Can’t really add to what has been said, well made, balanced but one of a croud.

I love IPA's and has got to be one of the best.... Love the taste. Has that IPA taste but lacks that harsh taste that a lot have.. Wish it came to New Mexico!
