I love this beer. Pours a hearty orange-gold with a creamy white head. The hop fumes are impossible to ignore, but I can also pick up some sweet caramely malts. Taste starts with rich, chewy malts, but this is flung aside by a green tidal wave of hop ottin' hops. The finish is overwhelmingly bitter (ahhh!), but overall, this beer is nicely balanced and wonderful. Probably my favorite IPA so far.

Beautiful deep bright hazy orange/brown. Awesome three finger thick creamy head. Perfect lacing. Nice fresh juicy spicy hops, grapefruit, pine, sweet molasses, toffee, rasins or prunes. Great complex smell. Damn near perfect tasting IPA. Thick bready body with sweet molases and caramel. Hop bitterness is intense without crossing the line. Huge kick of grapefruit and a deep pine. Very pleasantly bitter. Rasins and date flavors add some more complexity to the fruit notes at the finish. One of my favorite beers period. When this style is done right, there is not much that can beat it. This is a great one.

Holy hops head! Is this for real? Finally I've struck another resevoir of oil.
Fragerant floral and raw hops on the nose. Sweet honey and malts for a brief moment then morphing into a strong hops bitterness in the finish. Extremely complex! I have to submit here and say I can't begin to describe how much character this beer has. This beer is beyond reproach...
I dare you to drink this and judge for yourself.

I've seen this in CA only but noticed it on tap at a fave pizza joint in PDX today...
Appearance: this is what I've always imagined beer to look like in Heaven. Perfect copper amber color with a frothy initial head that tapers off nicely
Smell- I can't smell so great today, but I'm getting a fresh latex paint smell - not turned off though
Taste- I'm not so much into the IPA floral bouquet ... This has a good bitter bite on the front end but a nice even finish with a touch of malt
Mouthfeel- amazing. Even is the best way to describe it. Not heavy, or light, but definitely robust.
I would put this up against the Plinies any day ... And choose it over them

This is one of my favorite IPA's! If you are looking for a great beer with a nice edge, I highly recommend the Hop Ottin'

Appearance: Nice copper/golden color with excellent head retention. Lacing is very consistent.

Smell: Hop smell is fairly strong with citrus and floral overtones.

Taste: Bite is strong, but not overwhelming. Perfect blend of malt and hops, not allowing the 7% ABV to override the taste.

Mouthfeel: As good going in as going down.

Drinkability: As stated above, one of my favorite beers. Very few get a 5.0 in any category in my opinion. This one gets it in two.

Pours a nice thick puffy head that follows the beer down the glass. It's hoppy scent slaps you with in the face with a big fruity smack then it let's you down with its beautiful hop aroma. It has tastes of fruits and citrus with a sharp hoppy finish. Much like the head, the mouthfeel is thick and chewy with a smooth finish. By far one of my most favorite IPAs, this one will leave you begging for more!

clear, dark amber color, with a slightly off white head. settles down to a thin lace, leaving good lacing on the glass.

now if you put "hop" in the name of your beer, you better be serious .
these guys are serious. strong floral and grapefruit aroma. wow. "new car smell" should be this good. maybe some pine in there too, and we both know how much i like pine right?

hops again on show in the taste. very balanced with hop bitterness, flavor, and malts. the aftertaste though, is made mostly of hops, making sure you dont forget the name of your beer. kind of like each sip screams out "SAY MY NAME!!" finishes very smooth.

creamy mouthfeel makes this go down very easily. glad i got six as this has quickly become one of my favorite ipa's.

IPAs are my beer of choice and here in Colorado, we have plenty of good ones. But, this is really one of the best IPAs I have ever had. I've had one per night for the last five nights and I'm always looking forward to the next one.

The head is fluffy and large but the lacing is phenomenal! Depending on your level of hallucination, you could look at the lacing for hours.

The smell has a nice low level of maltiness, maybe a little citrus.

The taste is wonderful, that maltiness combined with a nice bitterness from the fresh hop flavor.

With that excellent head, there is also a creamy mouth to this that makes every mouthful something to look forward to.

I can see having one of these every day and then another one would be ok too. And maybe another after that. And so on....

One the top American IPAs. Highly recommended. Just wish it wasn't so damned expensive here in NY. $10.99 a six!

Bright yellow-amber coloration, vibrancy erases much of the cloudiness, thin head which exits stage left with rapidity, leaves some pretty lacing behind though. The nose presents an excellent interplay between the hops and malts, never excessively sweet nor bitter (yes, neither is an apt descriptor for scents), honey, beeswax, sweet lemon tea, tree sap, graham cracker, wheat all intermingle peaceably. Full-bodied, same level of harmony in the mouth, the hops poke and jab but then dance backward to allow the mixed white citrus and hard caramel candy to come out. Yeast, resin and bitters with an herbaceous streak act to return the pendulum in the other direction. Carbonation level allows for crests and troughs. Each sip just different enough to keep you, umm, sipping. An IPA to respect, even for those not in luv with the category.

Excellent beer, as are many of the Anderson Valley beers. Nice, hoppy flavor that not just bitter, but floral and balanced. Very accessible IPA for those who are looking for a balance of bitterness and other flavors in an IPA. Also recommend the AV Oatmeal Stout.

I first smelled this beer when I was 6 months sober at a campout and I wasn't drinking. One of my buddies had this. If yall know how much your sense of smell kicks in when you get sober you'll know what I'm talking about. This beer is FLORAL. I smelled this and though I was hittin a bouquet of fruit and flowers. About 3 months later I started drinking again and picked some up at the grocery. D@MN YO!!! This has like wine conocisour aftertastes and hints of this and dat. This wouldn't be a go-to drink at all for me cuz its too funky. This is by all means an "A" beer though and is something everyone should experience.

It has been said about this beer more than once, but balance is it's greatest strength. I think this is the best balanced IPA I have ever had with much more malt flavor than most to balance out the hoppiness.

The smell and appearance or good for an IPA. But the taste and drinkability are exceptional!
