great dark black with minimal head that actually snaps, crackles and pops (at least from a 12 oz bottle), minimal lace at best
heavy chocolate coffee tones without big malt sweetness, more towards bitter choc on the sniff. BIG nose on this brew from maple syrup to coffee malt.
a bit light for stout but as in other Anderson Valley beers there is a nice kick of hops (subdued here compared to their outstanding ESB and IPA - which is good for this style). It tastes on the back end like syrup without that weight on the tongue, very drinkable.
you wont be dissapointed by this beer, big flavor if not "full feeling" enough compared to others of this style, but a very tasty brew anyway you cut it.
