Coffee and barley nose. Pours with a two-finger head that recedes to the edges with a bit of lacing and some sticking to the sides of the glass.
A dark ruby red-brown color when illuminated, with good clarity, otherwise dense and black looking. The flavor follows the scent with a hint of coffee and some strong malt presence softened by the oats. Smoothly carbonated and creamy on the tongue. Not a lot of complexity though. Straight ahead stout with a slightly sweet front and a bitter back end.
Nice accompaniment for a game of darts when snowed in at a small bar in the mountains.
