This is a nice amber ale, but after trying and consuming quantities of Hop Ottin', I was expecting more. The color is a hazy, light amber with a large tannish head. There was a small bit of lacing. There is not much aroma here, except for a little smell of hops. There is a hint of pine and citrus in the taste along with a mild hops kick. There is considerable carbonation but this is only somewhat refreshing in the mouth due to a bit of metallic (for want of a better descriptive term) aftertaste that leaves a dusky feel in the mouth.
All told, this is a drinkable amber but not what I was expecting from Anderson Valley.

355ml Bottle from Good Spirits Co, Glasgow (£3.40):
Deep copper amber with a 3cm, foamy white head that looks slightly creamy. with great retention & zero movement until you actually take a drink.
Lots of malts & sweetness on the nose with caramel too but not much hops, some earthy ones appear though. Well balanced with some floral notes with a few dark fruits. Sweet, fruity & good strength.
Sweet malts & caramel flavours that match the nose well. There is some background fruits coming through with some light, floral hops featuring as well but again it's the malts that lead the way.
Smooth & fairly light bodied, almost watery in parts but there was a pleasant sweetness throughout & a clean, slightly dry finish that has a lingering bitterness to it.
This one started very well with the smell being a particular highlight but sadly things started to fade slightly after that with the taste seeming a little watery, more so that I would have liked. Not one I'd pick up again I'm afraid.

This is one of my favorite beers. This brew is incredibly refreshing. Though it isnt the easiest to pour from the tap, the appearance is amazing. It is a nice dark amber color. The head floats atop- an aesthetically pleasing addition. When it hits my mouth I think caramel. The toasted carmel hops are prime. It is a first class amber ale that all should experience.
