First had: on tap at Capone's, Norristown, PA
Poured a dark yet translucent brown-black, reddish-mahogany tints obvious when held up to the light and more so when the glass was nearly empty. I didn't get much in the aroma, just a bit of typical stout roastiness. Taste...wow...sour. Sort of a hybrid wild ale / stout, with up front flavors of lime, raisin, and sour cherries, licorice, with a good dark malt roast taking a back seat. Tart, medium body, oddly drinkable, and dang it I really think I want more.

On tap at the local Alehouse.
Pours a deep and dark black color with a small white head.
Nose is of vanilla, with hints of vinegar, and a bit of a metallic aroma.
Taste is nice, and not overly sour. Nice undertones of vanilla, light chocolate, and dark grains. Hints of red wine, vinegar, and sour fruits come through on the finish.
Mouthfeel is full, well carbonated, but not heavy.
The beer was a pleasant surprise. A nice sour stout, could use a bit more body, and some more complexity in flavors to be great, but this is still a good beer as is.

“Barrel-aged sour stout” 5.8% on-tap at the brewery.
Served a very dark woody brown with a thin, dense, dark brown head. I get big notes of caramel on the nose with hints of burnt sugar and a slight sourness. The flavor is full of red fruit skins/pits, caramel and brown sugar. I get dark chocolate in the finish. The barrel must be wine because the tartness is definitely vinous. I get some notes of dark fruits as well. The mouth is tart yet greasy, but the finish is dry. Carbonation is foamy. This beer wasn’t great but I could see what they were going for. Cheers.

This was an interesting experience. Didn’t come across at all like the source—I wouldn’t have known it was a stout had I just tried it blind. It’s a dark ruddy color, with a super tart aroma on it and a sour, mouth-puckering flavor. Really dry finish that lingers for days too. A curious pick and one I’m glad I was able to experience.

A: Poured pitch black with good carbonation and a nice white cap with some good lacing
S: Sour indeed. Lots of funk on nose with chocolate, grape and roasted malt
T: Sour, check. Chocolate, grapes or what led me to believe it was a nice ripe grape, perhaps a hint at vinegar, backed with roasted malt, some wood, Earthiness and tobacco.
M: Very good. Not to big of a body not watery either, good for a single stout, medium to heavy mouthfeel with a nice mouthfeel and good taste
O: Very good, easy to drink and quite impressive.

On tap at the Porter in Little Five Points, Atlanta
A: Black with hints of brown, a faint caramel color, good head, mocha in color
S: Straight cheese, in a delicious way, a mix of havarti and brie, has an amazing funky cream smell, not sure how they get that creaminess through in the aroma, but it is amazing
T: Sharp bacteria funky sour mixed with fruit to balance it out, no hop flavor, for a stout it has almost no malt flavor, has a definite nutty backbone that is absolutely necessary
M: Medium light body, dry, but goes down so smoothly
O: Not sure this should be classified as an "American Stout", but I'm not going to punish whoever classified this beer on beer advocate. This is one of my favorite beers recently. I drank it with 3 other friends who are full time craft beer drinkers and on and off experimental beer drinkers. They all agreed that it was very good.
