On tap at Good Luck in Rochester, NY.

Pours a fairly dark, basically opaque black (with brown tinges near the top that light could pass through), a half inch head, and a very small amount of lacing.

Smells like chocolate, roasted malt, cookie, and very mild bourbon.

The taste is fairly similar. This one reminds me of FW Velvet Merkin- a thinner, slightly watery "session" BA stout. There's a good amount of cookie dough flavor, some cocoa powder, slight roasty and espresso bitterness, and a sort of vanilla coffee creamer flavor as well. The bourbon is slight, and not noticeable in every sip. One of the mellowest BA stouts I've ever had, but it works here.

Medium bodied, fairly thin and watery mouthfeel for the style, but it is only 6.9% ABV. Low carbonation. Very drinkable.

This is not the most complex bourbon barrel aged stout I've ever had, but it's tasty, and drinkable, and doesn't fatigue you like some of the big boys do.

Type: 22-oz. bottle

From: Armada Wine & Beer Merchant in Santa Barbara, Calif.

Poured a pitch black color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy tan head that settled nicely. Healthy amount of uneven foamy lacing along the sides. Good retention on the top all the way down.

Smelled a quick whiff of chocolate before being dominated by bourbon liquor. Had a bad experience the last time I had Wild Turkey and can vaguely remember it, but the label reads, “Malt beverage aged in Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels” and I agree. Surprisingly, that heavy liquor whiff gives way to dark chocolate, crayon, sharp coffee beans, toffee, caramel and faint smoky wood.

Tasted better than the smell. Got chocolate, caramel, toffee, dark chocolate, dark cocoa nibs, liquor - bourbon and Wild Turkey, but way less pronounced than the nose -fudge, crayon and light oaky wood.

Full body. Creamy-to-oily texture. Average carbonation. Long, boozy finish. Worsened as it went down.

An above average stout, but not great. The attempt was great but it wasn’t quite as balanced as it should have been.

Night black with an attractive half inch mocha head.

Heavy of bourbon on the nose. Hits of vanilla and espresso and mocha.

Vanilla bourbon taste with a finish of the roasted malt stout. Not as intense or strong as other BBAS. The bourbon is loosing intensity the more I drink. Other notes of cocoa and a little coffee.

Very smooth light bodied comparatively with other BBAS which makes it very drinkable. Alcohol no where to be found.

Overall it's a session Bourbon Barrel Stout for me... Good for when you need that kick but don't want to fully commit.

On tap at Pikes in Long Beach, CA

A: Black with light tan head

S: Dark fruity with a little bourbon

T: Tastes first of fruit and milk chocolate, ends with bourbon

M: Light and carbonated

Overall: The brew is not very complex. no real depth. the only thing going for the brew is that you could taste the wild turkey

Pours great, dark, decent head on this ale.

Good bourbon aroma and flavor, but not over powering.

Mouthful on this is quite watery. Slight bourbon stays with you.

There are several other bourbon ales I would drink before this one, but definitely worth a try.
