Poured into a snifter out of a 22oz bomber.
Pours jet black with a one finger light tan had that settles to a fairly thick ring around the top of the beer. Pretty good lacing on the sides of the glass and some splotchiness on top.
Bourbon is really smacks you in the face in the aroma with the vanilla character being prominent. Wood underlies this along with dark chocolate.
Lots of vanilla and wood char in the taste almost as if a shot of bourbon has been dropped into the beer. There is more roast and coffee evident here compared to the aroma along with dark chocolate. Moderate bitterness and a bit of a watery mouthfeel leads to a sticky finish.
Overall, this beer has a lot going for it but I feel like it just lacks the body to be great. Everything starts out good but kind of craps out midway through. I would get this again, though.

Pours and off very very deep opaquer brown with creamy tan head that held well. Thin collar. Aroma is some dark chocolate, vanilla and caramel sweetness. Taste is much the same with no noticeable bourbon or oak presence until the very end. Creamy mouthfeel with low carbonation and a body just on the thin side of thick.

Appearance: black in color, 3/4 inch head, low carbonation, opaque
Smell: light chocolate and roasted malt
Taste: oak, chocolate, toffee, cocoa--a bit of Tootsie Roll taste
Mouthfeel: moderate carbonation, heavy body, sweet with oakiness
Overall: I was impressed with the oakiness of this beer at first, but unfortunately the taste did not carry all the way through this beer. It was still strong enough, but I wish the flavor was a bit stronger. Still I would get this one again if I saw it on tap. Not quite what I would call good, but certainly one of the better brews from Anderdon Valley.
