22oz. bottle poured into a snifter.
(A)- Pours practically pitch black in color with some subtle tan froth.
(S)- A great coffee roast to it with an excellent yet subtle barrel oak and vanilla character.
(T)- Really well balanced and smooth with mellow coffee and toffee flavors. Great barrel finish to it.
(M)- Very mellow and smooth. Extremely well balanced with a welcomed lower ABV, which helps this beer so much.
(O)- A superb stout with a welcomed lower ABV drinkability to it in a sea of big monster 15%+ stouts. I am actually a big fan of when the bourbon shows big in stouts, but the subtleties of this one are fantastic. Easily one of the better american stouts I have had over the years.

Pours and off very very deep opaquer brown with creamy tan head that held well. Thin collar. Aroma is some dark chocolate, vanilla and caramel sweetness. Taste is much the same with no noticeable bourbon or oak presence until the very end. Creamy mouthfeel with low carbonation and a body just on the thin side of thick.

Appearance: black in color, 3/4 inch head, low carbonation, opaque
Smell: light chocolate and roasted malt
Taste: oak, chocolate, toffee, cocoa--a bit of Tootsie Roll taste
Mouthfeel: moderate carbonation, heavy body, sweet with oakiness
Overall: I was impressed with the oakiness of this beer at first, but unfortunately the taste did not carry all the way through this beer. It was still strong enough, but I wish the flavor was a bit stronger. Still I would get this one again if I saw it on tap. Not quite what I would call good, but certainly one of the better brews from Anderdon Valley.
