tap
Pitch black pour, no head for long.
Smells rich and smokey, close to burnt even.
Tastes of toasted oak and mild hop bitterness.
Strangely thin with a mild tingle.
Frustrating because the appearance and aroma promise something good, but the taste is just okay and the feel is far to thin for the style. The result is just a par stout, not bad but not so great either.

A: The beer is jet black in color and poured with a thin layer of tan bubbles covering the surface.
S: There are moderately strong aromas of roasted malts in the nose.
T: The taste is very similar to the smell and also has some flavors of chocolate.
M: It feels medium0p-bodied and creamy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
D: The beer is very easy to drink and goes down smoothly. It paired especially well with Boylan's deep fried cheesecake dessert.

Reviewed on tap at Boylan Bridge just after they opened.
A - Black with very little light coming through. A small beige head.
S - Lots of roasted malt.
T - Mostly roasted malt with a dry start and a sweeter finish.
M - Moderate consistency and carbonation.
D - A good beer with nice flavor and balance. This and their Golden were the two that stood out for me.

Pours a deep opaque black with a nice lasting frothy head. Aroma is slight roasted malts and a slight hint of coffee. The taste is a smooth array of roasted malts, pretty much a textbook stout, nothing wrong with that when the mood hits! The beer is crisp and smooth with the expected stout carbonation and the 6.5% is fairly well hidden. This is a very respectable stout, I must say, it's the best beer from Boylan Bridge I've had yet.
