Apiarius is not a sweet beer, though it is brewed with a generous charge of honey from our own hives (or from our neighbors when we run out). We achieve a a crisp, dry pale ale from sweet beginnings by fully fermenting all the sugars-this yields a satisfying but muted maltiness, a refreshing hop character, and a captivating honey-flower aroma and finish.

on draft at the brewery. Taplist labeled as an "English style Ale brewed with honey"
light orange amber in color, clear, not much head. mild caramel sweetness in the aroma. similar flavor, not sure I can pick out the honey since I assume the sugar fermented out and the sweetness is from the malt. thin to medium bodied.

Poured from the can into a nonic pint glass.
Dark golden amber body color, light chestnut brown, but with a good dark dull brassy gold color. Head is a fluffy off white, a bit in the styrofoam retention appearance, but hangs on nicely for a pale ale. Settles to a nice simple thin puck and collar.
Very interesting aroma, soft honey qualities mixing with dry toasty brown bread. Honey aspect also brings out some real nice floral like tones, and a bit of sweet garden earth flavors. Surprisingly herbal as well and unexpected but in a pleasant complimenting way.
Palate basically takes it down to bare basics. Muted caramel and a slight bit of buttered toast like flavors in the mid palate. Dry and muted arid grains with a little bit of honey sweetness finish off the beer on the swallow. Mouthfeel sticks to the basics, but the specialty of honey to this is not really providing much else on the palate. Slight simple hop flavor that's neither intriguing or distracting.
Starts off as something a little bit unique but in the end comes out just a bit ordinary but drinkable.

How interesting that my local, in-person trader, tone77, credits me with getting him this beer. I CAnnot remember buying it & since I a) neither reviewed it nor b) could I find it among my backlog, I decided to pick another up for myself while CANpleting a trade with a fellow in MaryCANd.

I have to admit that following their disappointing Wit, I have no idea as to how to CANduct the Crack! & Glug on this one. There is no mention of clarity in the previous reviews. I am going with a gentle Glug, just in case. It worked out since I got good clarity from my pour. An in-glass swirl raised a brief finger of foamy, tawny head that quickly fell back to wisps. Color was Amber to Deep Amber/Light Copper (SRM = > 9, < 13) with NE-quality clarity. Nose was faint, but with a honey quality that put me in mind of some lagers. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was faintly honey-like with a grassy hoppiness and an earthy maltiness. It reminded me of youthful summers spent at my maternal grandparents' house in the countryside. Honeysuckle, mown grass, plowed fields, it was all present in this beer. That said, it was not a stunning or outrageous beer, just pleasant quaff on a lazy Sunday in Mai. Finish was semi-dry with just enough residual sweetness/sugar to keep it from being overly dry.

A thanks goes out to the founding father of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a dark golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is almost nonexistent. Some very light honey and malts. Taste is mild hops, a touch of bitterness, honey, a bit of malts. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a mediocre beer.
