From the name and smell, I am assuming there are a lot of citra hops. To me this has a very floral, citrus nose that still well rounded with a mix of hop flavor. Golden orange in color with a nice bright white lacy head. Good body, slight malt, lots of good bitter hop flavor, with a strong but quick finish. This is somewhere between a double and standard IPA. Sessionable, but with plenty of flavor and a great hop profile.

Update: I have tried this years release in a bottle. For whatever reason I am liking this beer a lot more this time around. The hop nose is great with a smooth grapefruit, citrus finish. Very similar to Zombie Dust from Three Floyds

12oz bottle, procured at the Idaho Pour Authority in Sandpoint last week.

This beer pours a clear, medium copper amber colour, with three fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and fairly bubbly off-white head, which leaves some broadly cobwebbed lace around the glass as it slowly recedes.

It smells of musty, somewhat dank pine resin, overripe red and white grapefruit flesh, grainy caramel malt, a bit of biscuity white cracker, and further leafy, herbal hop bitters. The taste is bready, doughy caramel malt, wet forest floor detritus, a still kind of muddled grapefruit bitterness - it tends more orangish for the most part - a twinge of hard water flintiness, and more herbal, leafy, and mildly perfumed hops.

The carbonation is quite light in its plainly playful frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and mostly smooth, the proclaimed hop mistresses off with their, um, 'dates', I suppose. It finishes off-dry, the grainy caramel malt more in tune with my expectant palate than any sort of middlebrow and lingering grapefruit essence.

So, this is pretty good, overall, but not for reasons that have anything to do with promises and/or marketing. What this is, then, is an adequate IPA, the hoppiness overriding the purported grapefruit peel, but still at the behest of the stolid caramel malt backbone. Easy to drink, once again, if you're not like me and don't think too deeply about it.

Had this beer on tap, in a pint glass. It's a borderline great and not quite deluxe IPA.

As the name implies, it has a nice citrus smell. It smells like an IPA should. Hoppy and citrussy and pretty freaking wonderful.

Taste is really good. Bitter. Like you would expect from a good American IPA. It smells better than it tastes, but it still tastes pretty dang good. It almost feels more bitter as you drink it.

Overall, a good beer, and I will definitely drink it again.

Bottle stamped with the date 09/21/15. 22oz bottle served, for no reason, in a Weizen glass. Aroma is quite citrusy, predictably, though smells purely like a citrusy dry-hopped IPA, not fruit juice. Color is clear orange amber. Flavor brings the sharp astringency of a high-IBU IPA at first, then reveals juicy orange flavors, and then thrusts me into what is quite obviously a grapefruit peel.

This beer is further proof that grapefruit can be a legitimate addition to a citrusy IPA, not a mere ploy to make mass-market candy beers for unsophisticated beer drinkers. That said, Grapefruit Sculpin did it better -- I'd get that one over this every time, given the choice.

Clear, golden color with white head. Aroma is very intense and fruity. Also has some nice honey and biscuits notes. Taste starts with some dank hops, gets more fruity in the middle and finishes quite bitter. Feels very smooth and has a medium body. Overall this is a very tasty IPA.

Had this on draft at elemental pizza in u-village Seattle. The nose on this is unbelievable! Citrus here is no joke, crisp nice bitter after taste. The only I wanted more was it to be a little more juicy at the end. It left me a little to dry. I would definitely purchase this again. What a nice surprise!
