Went to this place a while back while down in the Eugene area. I didnt really know what to expect from this place and to be quite honest I kinda didn't want to go check it out because it looked kinda like a chain (BJ's/RAM/Rock Bottom type of a place) at least from the exterior. The Brewery is located in an area of Springfield that you would think a chain would be...right off the interstate near chain hotels and restaurants. Glad I decided to go in and check it out. The 1st time I went was for dinner and some beers, food was very good, cant really remember what I had but I remember it wasnt bad at all, their menu was very extensive. Being the beer snob I am thats what I was most interested in, I had their IPA and red both of which were above average and I left pleasantly surprised. The following day while my wife was at a job interview I went back to Hop Valley for a couple beers. Had the Vanilla Porter which is my new favorite beer and their IPA again. Since that time which was about 8 months ago I have seen their beers in bottles around Portland bottle shops and I buy them any chance I can get. In my opinion...beer alone this is one of the top 5 breweries in the state of OR. If I lived closer to the Springfield/Eugene area I would go here frequently and every time I'm down that way its a must stop for sure.

I went to their new place on 1st street with my boyfriend, and let me just say, Awesome!
As you walk in the decor is nice and the bar is set up for easy selection.
They have a great selection of beers and some great food. For just 12 dollars you get 12 tasters on a cool tray shaped like a hop.
You can hang out in the bar area and watch them bottle the beer in the brewery. There is also a great outdoor seating area as well

Stopped by the brewpub for the first time this past Sunday.
The brewpub is located in a fairly odd location, right smack dab in the middle of hotel central in Springfield (very close to the interstate and the Gateway Mall). It's a fairly sizeable spot, with something of a TGIF/Bennigans vibe to it. There's lots of dark wood with high ceilings, and then a modest size bar area (10 seats I think) to your right as you come in.
As for the beer, on this day they had some 17 beers on tap, which I believe incliuded 6 or 7 seasonals. I settled with the always excellent alpha centauri binary DIPA, and ordered an appetizer of nachos. The nachos were decent and well loaded, and even though I just got the happy hour, half size portion, that was more than sufficient for me.
Service was pleasant, in a TGIF kind of way. I didn't get the impression that any of the staff knew a whole lot about the beer here, but they were pleasant and friendly otherwise, and orders came quickly.
HV is definitely an above average brewpub, but what really stood out, I thought, was the gentle pricing here. I assume I received happy hour pricing on everything, as my total bill for food and beer was $7.74. HV is located no more than a mile from my home, so it goes without saying that I'll definitely be back.

This brewpub is not a chain but it looks like a chain, ie: BJ's , Rock Bottom etc. So not my favorite type of place. It was very noisy and had a lot of people crowded together. The waitstaff was friendly and helpful. Food service was reasonable. The beer drinkers in our group said the beer was good but selection was just average. I got the fish and chips with french fries and it was just okay. Very greasy but the flavor was ok. Pizza was reported as ok and two people in our group had the fish tacos and said they were pretty good. I'd give the value as pricy for what you get. I wouldn't go back.

On a recent trip up and down Oregon to um well drink beer my brother and I stopped in to check what what Hop Valley had to offer. When you first walk in you notice just how big the place is and just how clean it is. We went during lunch hours so there was not too many people there seemed more like the locals that are fond of the Hop Valley beers. I had some mozzarella sticks and the sampler of their beers. The service was very friendly and fast and the cost of the food and beer was very reasonable. When we left we picked up a couple bottles of the Elias Briggs cream ale which they did not have on tap and only had a few bottles left of the stuff. Overall the beers were pretty good I was particularly fond of the Natty red. I would definitely visit this place again this time at night so I could get a better feel for the atmosphere and an actual bite to eat, that being said there was nothing I did not like about this place.
