A - Rich foamy head hold its place to the final sip, covering an opaque pitch-black body. Luscious.
A - Coffee, some cocao. Predictable.
T - It's not exceptional but it's very good.
+: Roasty in a rustic traditional way, some Stout I've had have become soft to appeal to a wider palette.
-: Too one-dimensional, the flavor is good but I have had more interesting Stouts/Porters; beyond one, this beer could become very ashy.
M - It's hard to believe this beer is only 5%, it's velvety and full-bodied. It's nice to have a beer that's not sweet or chewy, but satisfies quickly.
O - I probably could;ve given more credit to the taste, but I feel I do beers and fellow beer advocates a service when I am picky. This beer is definitely worth a shot, and a nice change up from BOTH Guinness Draught/Extra Stout, and a lot of the micro brew Stouts which have restrained the roast profile far too much.

Bottle purchased at AJ's Beer Warehouse in Henrietta, NY.
Pours a deep dark black, with a foamy, smooth 1.5 inch head that lasts throughout the whole session. Sheets of lacing down the glass as I drink this, looks great.
Smells like dark, almost burnt malt, chocolate, and a little bit of oats.
The taste is the same. This is an interesting beer, because as an oatmeal stout, it's a bit disappointing to me, but if it was classified as an Irish stout, it wouldn't be disappointing to me. It has a lot of the same characteristics to me as an Irish stout- slightly watery, roasty char flavor, used coffee grounds. Slightly smokey.
Medium bodied, a tiny bit thin. Creamy silky mouthfeel. Very drinkable.
A slight miss here, still quite tasty, but expected a bit more.

Awesome pitch black color with a creamy head. I picked up on a sour, burnt aroma. Almost like charcoal, BBQ scent. The more I sipped, the more the smoke flavor came through. Low IBU. It was fairly thin viscosity, very low carbonation...almost flat. I see the 92 rating but I'm just not feeling this beer. I have to admit that I'm not a fan of any of the smoke-style beers, and wasn't expecting this oatmeal stout to be so smoke forward.
