On tap at C'est What in Toronto. So hopefully this one is nice and fresh.

A - pitch black in color, opaque. Head is tannish and small with lots of puffy bubbles. Retreats somewhat, leaving nice lacing. Retention is good.

S - sweet malt, roast, coffee, bitter chocolate. Very little hop aroma, maybe some grassiness.

T - nice mixture of sweet and bitter. Sweet, full malt flavor balanced out by grainy bitterness, roasted astringency, dark coffee, bitter chocolate. Hop flavor present, but dominated by malt. Hops are grassy and floral.

M - sweet, silky and smooth. Almost a little oily, like a dark coffee. Fairly sweet finish. Carbonation is average to low. Body is somewhat thick but not overwhelming.

D - very, very tasty beer and one I wouldn't mind drinking regularly. Slightly filling beer, but lower alcohol could make this one easy to drink.

a: truly pitch black with one finger of tan, nitro-y head

s: deep roasty notes, coffee, slight chocolate. hints of oats and vanilla which is what i admire most about this beer

t: follows the nose. big roasted malt flavour, bitter black coffee, bitter dark chocolate, hints of dark fruits, namely prunes. very dry finish

m: light body, creamy, close to no carbonation

o: so so good, loaded with flavour for 5% abv. one of my favourites. a bit better from the bottle in my opinion. please try this beer

poured into a tulip glass

(Side note: The production date on the bottle says it was made over 4 years ago)

a - Black body with dark orange tint. Two finger fluffy head. Head color is caramel. Head deflates slowly in the center and then later on the edges to form a half finger, dark latté colored head.

s - Creamy and smokey-cigar smell. Bourbon notes.

t - cream and oats start. Middle is nutty/coffee bean. Finish is milk, coffee, and toffee.

m - Full and smooth. Linger feels like milk or cream lines the mouth

o - Head wasn't as rich and full as I usually like in a stout. The flavor was simple, but tasty. Mouthfeel of the body was very nice, and the best part of this beer.

Appearance: Inky black with a huge mocha coloured head. Looks very smooth and creamy.

Smell: Aromas of dark roast coffee, and some oat notes. Very toasty, comforting smells.

Taste: Delicious. Lots of roasty notes, flavours of cold/iced coffee or espresso. A mild hoppy bitterness hides behind a round, roasted sweetness that comes up front. A touch of chocolate, and some nice earthiness. These flavours don't linger long on the tongue, and dissipate to a coffee bitterness that hangs around in the mouth for a few moments.

Mouthfeel: Super smooth, rich, creamy, but not too creamy. Perfect smoothness, very drinkable.

Overall: This really is a great beer, exceptional mouthfeel and lots of warm comforting flavours. Very highly recommended.
