Served in a pint glass, at about 8 degrees Celsius.

Appearance – Clear, golden, no haziness, solid inch of head retention after a few minutes.

Smell – From two feet away, I can already smell the intense IPA-style hops aromas! Upon closer inspection, I also get some thick, heavy sugars, almost like molasses or maple syrup; but mostly piny, resinous, slightly citrusy hops.

Taste – A lot of the same as the smell, minus the heavy sugars; maybe not quite as hoppy as the smell.

Mouthfeel – fair carbonation; alcohol content (8%) showing through a bit much as dryness on my tongue; not very bitter, considering the strong hoppy smell and the DIPA label.

Overall – pretty good double IPA, although I do prefer the hops profile of the regular St-Ambroise IPA… might try my next bottle a bit colder.

Bottle: Poured a clear medium amber color ale with a relatively large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma consists of green hoppy notes with nice floral hops aroma. Taste is also dominated by nice green floral hops with a medium sweet caramelized malt backbone. Body is about average with good carbonation. I was expecting a lot worse based on previous ratings and comments but it is actually quite well balanced with an enjoyable level of hops.

Pours a very clear golden / amber color with a bright white frothy head that dissipates rather quickly.

The smell is very strong with resinous pine and citrus, mostly pineapple and grapefruit... A bit of honey sweetness with maybe a little maple syrup as well.

The taste is very bitter and piney at first from the hops... citrus notes of grapefruit and pineapple with a candy sweetness before a dry finish.

I did notice the alcohol come out as it warmed, but not too much that it was overpowering.

Overall, a pretty good Double IPA.. not a phenomenal beer, but a good and well balanced one.

picked up at a dep on parc a few days ago, the clerk said they got their first shipment that very day.

Look: Hazy straw, pour gives me three fingers of foamy off-white head that falls slowly, very nice lacing.

Smell: grapefruit, glorious hops, citrus, pine

Taste: is it the perfect DIPA? naw, overall well balanced but a bit piney for me

Mouthfeel: a tad under-carbonated

Overall: a good addition by one of my favourite canadian breweries

Bottle from Peluso in Montreal. From notes.

A - Poured bright with an orangey golden colour and mild carbonation. For what they claim is an unfiletered beer, this is lookin' pretty damn filtered. Two finger fluffy white head, minimal spotty lace and a film of retention.

S - Honey and grapefruit. Quite mild. Alcohol came out more as it warmed. Not overly impressive.

T - Much nicer than the aroma with a good hop burst in the flavour profile and lot's of honey, sweet syrupy fruits, sweet fruits, grapefruit, and pineapple. Much sweeter as it warmed with some alcohol present.

M - Decent bitterness for the style, good carbonation, fuller end of medium body.

O/D - Definitely not a great DIPA, but not a terrible one. Not exactly easy drinking though. Nothing stood out as overly positive and the alcohol was too noticeable for the ABV without a great hop character and too much sweetness. Wouldn't seek it out.
