Bottle from Peluso in Montreal. From notes.

A - Poured bright with an orangey golden colour and mild carbonation. For what they claim is an unfiletered beer, this is lookin' pretty damn filtered. Two finger fluffy white head, minimal spotty lace and a film of retention.

S - Honey and grapefruit. Quite mild. Alcohol came out more as it warmed. Not overly impressive.

T - Much nicer than the aroma with a good hop burst in the flavour profile and lot's of honey, sweet syrupy fruits, sweet fruits, grapefruit, and pineapple. Much sweeter as it warmed with some alcohol present.

M - Decent bitterness for the style, good carbonation, fuller end of medium body.

O/D - Definitely not a great DIPA, but not a terrible one. Not exactly easy drinking though. Nothing stood out as overly positive and the alcohol was too noticeable for the ABV without a great hop character and too much sweetness. Wouldn't seek it out.

Pours amber with a large white head.
Nose shows honey, bready malt and some resinous hops. Very sweet-smelling.
Flavours include heavy booze, loads of sweet syrupy malt and a piny, metallic bitterness in the finish.

Bottle: Poured a clear medium amber color ale with a relatively large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma consists of green hoppy notes with nice floral hops aroma. Taste is also dominated by nice green floral hops with a medium sweet caramelized malt backbone. Body is about average with good carbonation. I was expecting a lot worse based on previous ratings and comments but it is actually quite well balanced with an enjoyable level of hops.

St.Ambroise 'Double IPA' @ 8.0% , served from 6pack of 341 ml bottles purchased for $14.50

A-pour is a light gold from the bottle to a clear gold in the glass with a big frothy off-white head leaving a streaky lace along the pint

S-smelley double IPA , lot's of hops

T-dissapointing at first because of the dry bitterness that lingers on the palate thru out

MF-not the best carbonation , feels full bodied , dryness lingers on the palate

Ov-dissapointing Dbl IPA

St-Ambroise Double India Pale Ale,

The look of it: Yellow golden color, with lots of carbonation. About 2 fingers of head thats stays in the glass until in the end.

The smell of it: Typical of the IPA, hops aromas with some grapefruit.

The taste of it: Not as strong as the smell. The hops are less present. You feel it more o the after taste. As a double IPA, the taste is not quite there. Some presence of candy sugar with a dry finish.

So overall would I recommend it? Yes but as a double IPA, I am a bit disappointed. I really can t see the difference between that beer and a regular IPA expect that the double IPA have a higher ABV. But overall its a nice beer.

Pours a very clear golden / amber color with a bright white frothy head that dissipates rather quickly.

The smell is very strong with resinous pine and citrus, mostly pineapple and grapefruit... A bit of honey sweetness with maybe a little maple syrup as well.

The taste is very bitter and piney at first from the hops... citrus notes of grapefruit and pineapple with a candy sweetness before a dry finish.

I did notice the alcohol come out as it warmed, but not too much that it was overpowering.

Overall, a pretty good Double IPA.. not a phenomenal beer, but a good and well balanced one.

Cheers!
