Mellow Mushroom combines a superior selection of pizzas and beer in a very friendly atmosphere.

Any visit made you can expect to find a great pizza, and a great selection of both draft and bottled beers.

The decor of the place is based on the Grateful Dead, and much of the menu has Dead-influenced names. Don't let the theme fool you: they make excellent pizza that does not need gimmicky names to sell it: fresh ingredients, great toppings, and overall yummy sauce and crust make this a place worthy to visit for the pizza alone.

Went here on recommendation from a local craft beer buddy. Plenty of good beer choices although they were out of the one my buddy recommended.

Anyway, I ended up with a yummy IPA and a Purple Haze which both went perfectly with the pizza.

Pizza is awesome. My wife loved the hippie atmosphere and food. We split a pizza and I had two beers for 50$, so we thought it was on the pricey side.

We sat outside and service was as expected. No smoking on the patio helped us enjoy the meal too. We'll go back for sure.

Found this place while I was visiting family in Ohio. Was told to go there from a local purveyor of fine beers and I am glad that I did. It was surprising for me to return to Ohio and find such a place with a wide variety of beers.

At first sight of the bartender I was not sure that she would be well informed due to her age, but I was impressed when she started rattling off beers that I should taste and their profiles. She also let me know of upcoming releases they were supposed to be having.

The experience was so enjoyable, that I returned for a second time in my short visit in Ohio, and needless to say, there was a different bartender, and h was just as knowledgable as the first.

The selection was great and varied. Available were such as Stone, Bells, Great Lakes, Thirsty dog, Troeggs, rogue, just to name a few.

I would recommend that you stop in and check it out if you are traveling through or live in the central Ohio area.

*A little re-reviewing here: knocking down some points on service (very uneven: if you get the occasional guy who knows his beers it is great, otherwise it can easily stink) and value (pizza really is too expensive).*

My wife and I were driving to BJ's Brewhouse over at Polaris Mall in Greater Columbus when she suddenly said, "let's go to the Mellow Mushroom instead!". Up until then, I had only heard about this place having good pizza. The wife is like, "the tap list might not incredible but they do have a large bottle list".

Well, turns out they sport 36 beers on tap, almost all of them craft offerings, and many of them rare. I had Flying Dog Double Dog and Horn Dog, both of which are not easily available anywhere. Also a good number of Bell's, a couple of Rogue's, Brooklyn... I was surprised. Excellent selection!

Their food is mostly pizza, of course. Not my favorite, but fine to go with beer. Dough/crust is a little too thick, and ingredients are not the best, but you could do much worse around here.

Service seems to be hit-or-miss. We sat out on the patio and our server was flaky and didn't know much about beers. Then we moved in to the bar and the guy was spot-on! He had traveled to Denver to visit microbreweries, knew his stuff and was fun talking to him.

Prices are not bad- $6.50 for a barleywine, but a full pint!
I enjoyed the atmosphere too, casual but fun, mostly Bud-drinking types, but still good. Can't wait to go back and try more of their taps!
