Style | ABV
Belgian Strong Dark Ale |  10.00% ABV

Availability: Year-round

Notes/Commercial Description:
This Belgian-style dark ale is the culmination of central and western European malts, Noble hops, candy sugar and a traditional Trappist yeast. Notes of dried fruit, cinnamon and vanilla make DNR a very complex experience to be enjoyed in moderation.

Extremely sweet. Odd after taste. Almost no carbonation.

Received as an extra in a trade

A - Poured into my Duvel tulip a slightly hazy copperhue with no real head, just light white wisps and a thin halo. Uhhh...wow.

S - Aromas of faint vanilla, light sweet malts, caramel, toasted notes, light yeast, faint esters, no real booze.

T - Taste is very sweet, syrupy, nice spice notes, cinnamon, faint vanilla, candy sugar sweet. The Trappist yeast they use is nice, as are the esters, alcohol hidden very nicely. That being said, once again this is VERY sweet!

M - Mouthfeel is incredibly lowly carbonated which makes the sticky sweetness feel even heavier.

O - Overall, this is just an okay beer. Taste solid enough but its so sweet and syrupy that it is really just not enjoyable.
