The Wild Wheat Wine Honey Ale has floral and rustic flavors that began with a generous foundation of pilsner and wheat malts. Local clover honey, two wild yeast strains and 14 months in red wine and bourbon barrels give this distinctive honey ale an earthy backdrop, notes of sweet tropical fruit and rich tartness. Savor accordingly.

The beer pours a clear, deep amber color with a fizzy, quickly dissipating head that leaves a small ring and no lacing.
Immediately upon opening the red wine hits along with a strong oak smell. My mouth puckers slightly expecting a dry red wine from the smell. There is a small bourbon presence also.
The taste is heavy on oak, along with red wine, and bourbon on the finish. It's a bit tart also.
The mouthfeel is effervescent and heavily carbonated, which detracts from the beer a bit. There's a very dry, quick finish.
Overall this is interesting. The oak flavor overpowers most everything else. The other flavors are good but subtle.

2017 vintage. Head dissapates to nothing quickly. Deep orange and hazy. Smells tart and the honey shines thru here. Red wine and vanilla from oak comes thru. Tartness is there but balanced. Carbonation brightens in absence of head retention. Tiny bubbles still coming up from bottom of snifter. Balanced in most aspects. Got zero bourbon barrel flavor or smell outside of vanilla and slightest of oak. Pretty complex

Thanks Herf!
Pours a medium orange color, somewhat sunny. Off white head with nice head. The aroma is quite Bretty, some hay and funk, mild acidy. Some sweet bready malts. The taste has an initial tart taste, with some hay and musk. There's some sweet malts indicative to a hefty wheat wine. It's good. Crisp in a way on the feel, but some substance and creaminess.
Interesting take with the wild yeast...very good!
