Pours a dark brown colour, certainly not the "black" of its name; even in the centre it's a solid but translucent brown. Body looks solid enough and forms some pretty nice, fine carbonation. Above this is a filmy, but fine beige head, which forms some solid and intricate lacing. Not a bad look all up.

Nose is sharp and tropical, with stacks of green, almost passionfruity hops like Nelson Sauvin or Riwaka. This melds really pleasantly with the sweet dark characters of chocolate and slightly earthy grain. It's an exciting and very fragrant nose.

Taste is a little less layered than it might have been, and the hops feel a little unbalanced here, giving a sharp astringency on the front, very much like white lemon pith. Some dry, biscuity malt sits on the back, but there's very little residual sweetness, and very little body to back it up. Feel is clean, but a bit too thin.

Not bad, all up, but it feels like they've wasted that wonderful amalgam of grain and hops on the nose by making the beer thinner than it should have been. There's real potential here: there are some really obvious things that could be done to this beer to make it better.

I guess I'm just disappointed that Beer Here didn't do them.

Pours dark brown with a quickly fading small head.
Tropical fruit on the nose along with sweet caramel and roasty malt.
Very similar flavours, tropical hops and a small amount of roasty malt. Finishes with a bold hoppy bitterness.
Carbonation is suitably moderate...

The brew pours a cherry cola hue with decent carbonation that leaves behind a creamy two finger head that stays and leaves nice lacing everywhere, the smell is dark fruity berries, coffee, herbal hops and some choc cherry,it has a medium bodied well carbonated mouthfeel which feels a tiny bit sticky and allows the tastes of cherries dipped in chocolate, milky coffee, dark fruit and dark belgian chocolate all to mingle very nicely and this is finished off with a herbal hoppy bitterness and overall its an interesting drop that could be better with a few tweaks here and there.

On tap at Ol Baren in Copenhagen. From notes. The bartender, Warren, said it was a little off but here is the review anyway.

A - Pours with a three finger tan head which is rocky and fluffy. Very deep red in colour. Bright.

S - Kind of saisony with the grassy, barnyard character and a little roastiness.

T - Same as the aroma. Very different. Some chocolate comes out from the stout aspect of it but that grassy and slightly funky part really shows too. A little cola note is there.

M - Mild tingly carbonation. Medium body.

D - Considering it was off, it was not that bad. I am curious to see this bottled and give it another shot. A fairly good, light black IPA.
