Stopped here this past week as my wife and friends were shopping in the mall.

A- A classy looking eating place in the resturant section. The bar section which I sat in was a nice and stylish looking. Swishy looking bar top with what I saw 2 different sections of handles. T.V.'s were all over the place in the bar area.

Q- The quality I saw from the place was good. The bartender knew what he was talking about and poured nice healthy samples and beers themselves. Flavorful and looked good.

S- Service was pretty good. The bartender at times answered my questions but still seemed to not really know at times what I was talking about. Never really had to wait to get another beer when I needed one. Although at times it seemed like he wanted to rather talk to all his co-workers.

S- A nice selection of DuClaw beer's which I was grateful to try. It looked like there was 4 seasonal taps there that seemed to be rotating.

Vibe is okay. Its in a mall, but it does have a nice outdoor area. Separate dining room and bar areas inside. Some tvs over the bar with sports. About a dozen Duclaw beers on tap plus another dozen guest taps. Decent varieties of styles represented. Good service at the bar. The food was pretty good - had a grilled "Arizona" chicken burger and fries. Fries were hand cut so were good and the chicken was juicy and flavorful.

Ate here several times. Has all the atmosphere of a mall brewery. They recently redid their food menu and what I have had here is tasty--the jambalaya and the chorizo burger have both been tasty. Service was prompt and friendly. Half the beers are now guest taps and what is available from DuClaw are widely available brews, not that I am complaining because I like their beer. That said, I feel this is a solid must stop when I am in the area.

This particular branch of DuClaw is very frustrating. They almost always have nothing outside of the regular DuClaw offerings that are in bottles. The last two times I went here my first draft choice was out, and last time my second choice was out despite all these being in six packs everywhere. Why does a Duclaw owned bar not have several of these kegs... are they just two lazy to put a new one on? Food is ok, at least compared to other options in the Arundel Mills mall. I wish Bobby's Burger Palace had taps (they must of had their heads up their asses when made that decision).

We ordered the Portobello Mushroom fries. The food arrived covered in maggots. You can see the maggots in the photo posted on Twitter, Facebook, Yelp, Instagram, Trip advisor, tomato, etc. The manager snatched the maggot infested food away before, I could take more photos. So, disgusting. Never going back to Duclaw!!! When I called back later and asked the kitchen staff if they threw away the maggot infested panto, the male staff member confirmed that the kitchen had indeed thrown away maggot infested panko. When I asked for the Manager and asked him, he denied it.

This place has a very typical sports bar feel and is located in a mall. If you like DuClaw beer, they serve lots of it here.

Nothing extra special to write home about, nothing crazy or rare on tap (like the Baby Jesus variants). Beer is fine, service is fine. Didn't eat anything. Not bad to grab a beer before a movie or while waiting for someone else but not a place I'd go out of my way for.

Good vibe here. Always a decent crowd & welcoming staff. Pretty decent quality brews, plus a full service bar if you want more than beer. Service is pretty good. Staff are courteous & knowledgeable about their fare. Good beer selection, but of course, its only Duclaw beers. But I think they're pretty good. They will also mix a pint (half-n-half) if you ask them to. Food is pretty good too. Nothing spectacular, but better than many other bars.

Went on a Saturday morning so I can't say I had problems with seating or anything - we were the only people there.
Server was nice and prompt, food took a little while (I guess we woke the cooks up) but it was good.
Price wise, like most things in Maryland compared to Virginia, always a good deal.
Beer wise, not too great. Have a bunch of Duclaw on tap (natch) but it seemed like it was all of Duclaw's main brews (and rejects at that).
Not a case where the brewery takes advantage of owning the bar and offers one offs and experimental brews.
More of a corporate sports bar setting with Duclaw having a tap takeover.

Situation- You are stuck near the BWI airport for a conference in Baltimore. You don't want to go to downtown Baltimore to try Heavy Seas-since you've had most of their beers anyway and you don't see any beer bar reviews nearby that you are impressed with. The traffic can be terrible so there is no way you are going to go all the way to DC. But ahh....there's a brewpub nearby- the reviews aren't raving-but decent enough to give it a try. I have been in thsi situation twice this year actually and therefore I have been here 4 times this year.

Location and Atmosphere- DuClaw is located inside the Arundel Mills Mall-along the outsie between Buffalo Wild Wings and some Mexican Restuarant-its along the far right side before the movie theatre. The Arundel Mills is the largest mall in Maryland-and probably the biggest in the Baltimore/DC metro area. 3 of the 4 times I was here the mall was hot mess crowded and parking was hard to come by. Despite the mall being ridiculous- we always got seated right away. The inside of the brewpub I would describe as typical suburban restaurant. They did a pretty good job putting booths and walls throughout so its nice to have a bit of privacy as you eat. Each booth also has a detailed large beer label at it-each with a different one of their beers-which is pretty interesting and cool.

Beer- I believe they have 12-13 beers on-tap. 9 are listed on the beer menu-but they always seem to have a few on-tap that are seasonals/specialty beers that aren't listed on the menu. They always have a nice variety of styles and a nice balance of big beers and lower alcohol beers as well as a nice balance of more typical and more experimental beers. I've all of their brews to be pretty nice/good- nothing overwhelmingly awesome, but definitely nothing terrible or not worthwhile. The only beer I though they could do A LOT MORE with was the misfit red. My favorite have probably been Hellrazer, Colussus, and Guilty Filthy Soul.

Food- The menu has some pretty unique dishes, and I've liked everything that I have had. I've Had the portobello fries, blueberry pecan salad, arrzo con pollo cocoa fuego, as well as wings and a flatbread.

Service- I was pretty impressed with the service 3 of the 4 times. The servers are happy to let you taste beers and tell you about speicials. The service is timely and the servers know about the food and beer. There was one of 4 servers that knew nothing about the beer and didn't tell me about the other beers not on the menu that were on-tap until I asked about it-then she had to go look and still couldn't describe the beers to me.

Overall- If you are stuck in Baltimore-which still doesn't seem to be much of a beer city-this is a great place to go. Awesome food, good service, and a nice variety of interesting beers.

A - For a "Mall Bar" it's better than most. The restaurant area is nice with the high walled booths that let you have a nice lunch or dinner without being disturbed by the other diners (with kids). The bar & patio areas nice though the bar music is a little loud for normal conversation (especially during happy hour).

S - Even on Release Nights, the service in the both bar & the restaurant is good. Even outside on the patio, the servers are always about, making sure no one goes hungry or thirsty.

S - Tap selection is limited to their own brews but what a selection! And every month, there's a new beer release with firking day releases throughout the month.

F - Better than most bar foods & far better than the other restautant selections in the mall. The Buffalo Chicken Dip & Chili are excellent and the Misfit Chips are great to munch with your beer.

Atmosphere? It is in a mall what more can you say. I have sat in the bar area the 4 times or so I have been. Somewhat industrial feel to it. Nice selection-I think there were at least 10 if not 12 DuClaw beers available on my last visit. Everything from a pale amber to BOTH a RIS and barleywine. I had a really good caramel nut brown ale and a cascadian dark ale on nitro among others. While DuClaw beers are good, they always seem right on the edge of being great to me.

Service has always been really good at the bar. On my last trip the bartender and his fill in could not have been any more attentive. Very liberal with tasting samples if I was curious about a specific beer.

Food has been very good the 3 times I have eaten here. Had a great Kobe beef burger last time though the spicy sauce on it was tasteless, which actually allowed the beef to come thru!

While I would not make it a destination it sure beats shopping with the wife. Does Burlington Coat Factory sell beer? I think not.

Stopped by the other day in order to sample the new colossus on tap.

For starters, this particular DuClaw is located in the Arundel Mills Mall, which means on a weekend, parking may be a bit difficult to come by. Once inside, DuClaw has your typical TGIF/Applebee's vibe, with something of a sterile, cafeteria like look to it. They did have 5 or 6 flat screen TV's over the bar, which makes this a pretty good place to hang out and watch a sporting event. One thing that's kind of interesting, is that there is a completely separate bar area set apart from the dining room area (with a wall and separate door). I can only assume that DuClaw does this to make sure they adhere to some local ordinance that doesn't permit minors in an establishment selling alcohol.

As for quality and selection, in addition to the colossus, there were 10 other DuClaw beers on tap this day. This included the usual core beers, as well as the mayhem weizenbock and the exile 5 on tap. I think they also have bottles of the usual BMC products for those who find DuClaw beers too flavorful.

Quality was decent, as it pretty much always is at DuClaw. I wasn't all that thrilled with the Mayhem or Serum (DIPA), but the wit was enjoyable, and the colossus was pretty interesting.

As for food, I got the wings. They were OK, but no better than that. A lot of places in and around Baltimore do wings pretty well, and IMHO, much better than what I got at DuClaw. Otherwise, the menu is pretty good size with some interesting options (you can make your own slider plate, with 9 different variaties to choose from).

Prices for food were fairly reasonable (my plate of 8 wings came to $8), but I thought beer prices were a bit on the high side. I expected the Colussus to be fairly expensive (my 6 ounce glass was $6), but I was kind of puzzled by the price for my pint of Sawtooth wit. It's one of their core beers; they make it themselves; so $5 just struck me as a bit high.

I'm not a huge mall fan to begin with, and certainly there's nothing about this DuClaw location that is a draw. Their beers are OK, and if I happened to be at the mall for some reason I could see stopping by here again. As I can't imagine driving over to Arundel Mills Mall any time soon, that's probably not going to happen.

Surprisingly large brewpub located in an equally large shopping mall outside of Baltimore. This place is divided into seperate bar and dining areas and also surprisingly the restaurant seems much larger. The ambiance is kind of spare/modern/industrial - tall exposed ceilings, dark, metal etc. The beer theme seems kind of medieval or gothic and kind of gimmicky. Lots of someone's time must be spent thinking up the slightly over the top beer names and writing up the corresponding long descriptions (which again are a bit gimmicky). Unfortunately none of their more highly rated beers were on and the highlighted beer (Mysterium - a Belgian spiced) was rather unimpressively served in a shaker and looked kind of glum. Service was OK if not a bit slow and distracted. My impression was that it's not a particularly great beer destination. Food was just okay - traditional pub fare but my wife and I just found it mediocore at best. Although, my best memories with DuClaw brews lie at the Oktoberfest beer festival with some good launches that go out very quickly every hour.

The atmosphere wasn't bad, nice building.
Certainly wasn't a beer lovers paradise though.
Most of the other people I saw dining weren't even drinking beer. So swap out DuClaw with a Ruby Tuesday and all these people would have never noticed. The restaurant was clean, and had a nice porch area outside.

Tried the sampler. It includes everything on tap (10 beers when I was there). Each beer is served in a 4oz glass. 40oz of beer for $16.99 isn't terrible. Only two beers stood out, their Euphoria (toffee nut brown ale) and their 13 Degrees (DIPA). Had a pint of each after the sampler.

I had their crab pretzel, it was good but not as good as the crab pretzel I'm used to at a local restaurant here in York.

Overall, ok beers, ok food. If you're in the Arundel Mills mall area it's worth stopping in.

Wish they offered 750mL bottles though.

Atmosphere- Generally not the type of atmosphere I would go out of my way for... but taken into context (this DuClaw location is situated in a mall), the atmosphere is above average; largely due to DuClaw's good marketing and architecture. I wouldn't say you're surrounded by beer geeks on your average visit, but this is certainly an oasis if your significant other is busy shopping...

Quality- Good, fresh beer; clean draft lines; samples and pints available. Overall the quality is a substantial mark above average.

Service- Good service from reasonably knowledgeable barstaff.

Selection- Like atmosphere, this is a tough category... DuClaw only serves their own brand of beer. Within that vacuum, the selection is quite nice; but in comparison to other beer bars, the selection is quite limited. An average mark is suitable to compromise.

Food- Good bar/mall food. Definitely gets the job done whilst your lady is busy looking at shoes and handbags...

I have been here a few times while traveling through on business. They have a few decent beers, but I lean more towards the extreme stuff that is higher in ABV and taste. DuClaw caters to (and well justified), the middle of the road beer crowd, that's where their bread and butter is. If I were a business owner, I would too. The food is always good and the bartenders are very cool. My only gripe is that they grow some b*lls and brew something a little more extreme and tastey. To me, the beers are way too mundane for my liking. I will go here as a last resort. (No offense DuClaw.)

It was weird finding this place in a mall...but he it's the perfect place for a guy to hang out while his significant other goes shopping.

The dining area is pretty big with lots of tables. The bar is through a set of doors and has a few tables along the windows. The bar is pretty big with lots of room to sit and two sets of taps. I think I counted about 9 offerings from a pale ale, IPA, amber ale, wit, and an oatmeal stout. I tried the IPA. It was good...but nothing that blew me away. I did not get to try any food but the menu did look pretty appetizing.

Our waiter was great with checking in to see how we were doing. Before we even finished our first rounds he asked if we wanted a second. We said yes...but he did not let me get out that I wanted to try another beer...so I had a second IPA.

There are plenty of TV's for you to look at whether you sit at the bar or at the tables around the bar. They also offer outside seating.

This is a nice place to duck into after shopping and relax with a beer. They seemed to have solid offerings and the staff was pretty friendly.

Located in the fairly popular and large Arundel Mills Mall, it's easy to spot from the outside, located right next to a mall entrance, along with an outside entrance into the bar. The bar area and dining room are separated by glass doors and windows, keeping the vibes separate and more proper.

The bar area is fairly nice, with a good amount of chairs at the bar and several tables and televisions for watching sports. One thing missing though is a taplist, though each of the taps is labeled with the appropriate beer. The dining area is a little plain and boring, not much exciting to look at with some pretty dim lighting and various DuClaw beer logos on the walls.. The only thing really interesting is people watching if you sit by the windows peering into the mall.

Service is pretty good, on all of my trips there the wait staff has been very efficient and prompt, noticing when you're ready to order, need a refill, check, etc. The beer selection is pretty good, 5 staple beers on tap with a nice variety, along with 2 or more months worth of special releases, some of it being pretty unusual, and none of it being bad.

The food is another good note, with a nice variety of things from hamburgers and sandwiches to salads, steaks, fish, and pasta. I've yet to have a bad meal at DuClaw.

This particular DuClaw may be a little less impressive in appearance from some of the others like Fells Point, but it still has all the good service, food, and beer of the other DuClaws. Plus it's a nice place to kick back while being dragged to the mall.

You will love this, I asked my waiter for the IPA. He said "What is an IPA?" I said "Do you work here?" He stood there with a dumb look and said "I know the beers by their names, most people order them by their names." That gave me a chuckle as I opened up the menu and showed him the words "India Pale Ale" in the beer description and explained that is the beer style. This place is trying way too hard to be "radical" with the names of the beers and the interior. The staff, obviously have little training. About 10 out of 30 people in the dining side were having beer. My cuban sandwich was built correctly. Can't say the same for the IPA, which had a harsh metallic bite and was way short on the malt. Radical, man.

Update: Well, DuClaw's beers have come a long way since 2008. Serum is outstanding. Venom is good. The establishment is still just OK (its a mall bar) because of the usual chip-on-the-shoulder clueless young bar staffers. I'm bumping up the rating for the beer selection.

Enjoyed a spicy chicken sandwich and a couple of pints at the Arundel Mills Mall location. Atomosphere is okay - they do what they can for being in a mall environment. Had ten house beers on tap and a large selection of wines and liquors. Service was great - very attentive and the staff knew enough to recommend the IPA to me when the Pale Ale I asked for wasn't available -all the while confirming that I knew I was asking for a bitter beer to make sure I wouldn't be surprised by the hoppiness. My sandwich was nothing special (basic pub fare), but well-done and the two beers I had were very enjoyable. If you find yourself stuck in the mall, DuClaw is a great option over many of other chain food establishments to select from.

Arundel Mills is a big place but we found parking right near the restaurant. The eatery is located near an outside door so we didn’t have to traverse through the mall. It was lunch time, on the Friday after Christmas, and though the restaurant was fairly busy but we had no wait for a table. The server was prompt to take our drink and food orders. The non-smoking restaurant was a nice place to enjoy lunch and some good local beer. We tried two year-round beers and one seasonal. The year-round beers were enjoyable. Based on other reviews, I suspect we got a bad batch of the seasonal Black Jack Stout. We had the Grilled Steak Sandwich, which was tasty, though the bread was doughy and the meat a but sparse.

This is the DuClaw location that we probably frequent the second most after the Fell's Point one. Located in the gigantic Arundel Mills Mall, which may or may not detract from the atmopshere depending on how you look at it. Personally, I like having a decent beer option available to me after doing some shopping or catching a flick at the nearby movie theater. Interior decour is on par with the other locations, mostly emphasizing the great job they do at marketing their beers. We most often sit in the bar area, which is probably our favorite of the four besides the much larger and accessible Fell's Point location. I've been to one beer release here and unfortunately, it's size and shape did not bode well for moving around very well during the very packed event. They also have an outdoor patio seating off the bar when the weather gets nice.

I'll save my thoughts on the quality of DuClaw's beers for a seperate beerfly but I've personally never had a problem with them. You can't argue with the selection though. Five staple beers and usually at least 2-3 of their monthly seasonals on tap at any given time. This year, they also introduced 2 extra seasonals, one of which was on during our most recent visit (The 31 Spiced Munich Dunkel). They also rotate some beers on nitro, at this location it's usually the Venom Pale Ale or Bad Moon Porter. This is also the only location in the chain to offer a Firkin Friday once in a blue moon but get there early as the event is quite popular and it goes very quickly.

Service has never been a problem. We most often eat in the bar area but we have also dined in the dining room portion of the restaurant. A few times in the bar, we've had a server that was especially excited about the beer and would chat with us, free samples, etc. We enjoy the food selection here. Decent array of burgers, sandwiches and salads, along with some slightly more pricey entrees. I especially enjoy the jambalaya. Very spicy. :) I would call the prices reasonable ($8-10 for a sandwich or burger platter), especially since it's located in a more upscale mall.

While not the best representation of a DuClaw, if you've never been to one, it's definitley worth a stop. Especially if your in the area shopping anyway and are thirsty for some decent beers.
