a style we do not see american breweries tackling too often, i was pleased to see this along with so many other authentic german selections at this awesome little brewpub! paler than many, only lightly amber, more pale copper, seemingly more in the gold rather than red family to me, and nice and clear. some deeper toasted notes than the color suggests in the nose, almost a light chocolate malt thing to it, nutty and not as sweet as many of these end up being, there is a lager type crispness, a hint of raisin, and an earthy complexion to the grain overall. a baked breadiness in the flavor, simple in some ways, but well balanced too, some light crisping bittering hops late, the old world yeast quality, and a smoothness to the texture thats fuller while also being light and drinkable, aided by high carbonation. this has a very fall vibe to me, a little light for the dead of winter, but quite a solid interpretation of the style, the quality is there, and this fits into a neat space on their menu, between the crisp lagers and more estery ales they do, real enjoyable!

Pours a clear garnet/brown with a solid finger of foam and excellent lacing.

It has a nose of brown sugar, toasted malt, and more than a hint of hop bitterness.

Tastes like it smells if not as vibrant. I get some nutty notes to go with the brown sugar taste and there's a decent bitter flavour here and there. Still, from the smell, I expected more.

Good mouthfeel, good drinkability.

Overall, I am quite pleased with this Alt.

New beer from the brewery.

A clear dark brown colored beer with a small tan colored head.

Smells of caramel and nuts and scorched sugar. Fairly sweet smelling with a floral hop scent.

The first sip tastes mildly sweet and vaguely of walnuts. A little burnt sugar taste caramel and nuts are there too. For and Alt this on the dry end for the style.

A Tasty alt that is certainly worth the affordable price.
