The circular, overlapping nature of The CANQuest coupled with my North AmeriCAN tour of 2006 to 2008 has just hit home! I visited their brewpub once upon a time! CAN you dig it?

Beer & Music: I will cop to taking the easy way out, but the most famous Viennese that I could think of was the great Ludwig von. I am listening to Beethoven's 5th Symphony as I conduct (sorry) this review.

From the CAN: The word "Beer" in its many forms, including "IINBO (sort of my Cyrillic), Bier, Biere, Cerveja, Birra, Pivo, [Japanse or Chinese characters], Cerveza, Bier and Biere" and "Best if served in a glass." Fair dinkum, but how come we never get the word for CAN, which is far more important? CANs = Dosen, Boites, Lattine, Lattas, and Blikken.

CAN we have a review? Without further ado, some Ludwig von accompanied by sharp Crack & Glug! I got a foamy finger of ecru head with good retention from my offbeat pour. Color was a deep orangish-amber with NE-quality clarity. BUPGOO! Nose had a toasted malt mild sweetness along with a slight metallic quality. The latter is not totally inappropriate for the style but is often attributed to the CAN when it appears in extreme instances. Mouthfeel was medium with a great toasted malt flavor in the mouth. It was like sucking on a piece of toast! Yum. Finish continued with a toasty sweetness. You CAN bet that this would be going into my cooler. The Utes may not be big on alcohol, but this is definitely quaffable at a low ABV!

I have been drinking this beer for years. It is one of my favorties when at the Bohemian. A nice amber color, rich creamy head. Nice carbonation, malty but dry taste of good munich malts, not too much caramel. Has a little hop bite which is a little off for a Vienna, but works very well for this beer. A good all around session lager from one of my favorite breweries.

12oz can from Harmon's Grocery Store in SLC. Can't remember the price on the sixer. Into a NB Globe.

A: Nice copper color with an off white head about half an inch thick, decent retention but it starts to fade away fairly fast. Decent spots of lacing as it recedes. Nice clarity.

S: Grainy malts, fairly caramel like, light little hop nose definitely of the noble variety. Slightly sulfuric smell as well. Smells quite clean.

T: Taste follows over nicely, biscuity and bready. Touch of hops at the end, relatively low bitterness. Lingers in the mouth quite nicely with an excellent graininess. Maybe a touch watered down, but not bad at all.

M: Fairly thin, but finishes decently dry.

D: Easy. This is a great session beer that I wish I could get locally in Eastern Utah. Nice flavors, not incredibly robust, but a damn fine beer to kick back and have a few off. Well done.

Pour - nice dark amber or golden in color with about a half inch of bubbly white head. Reminds me of the color of autumn.

Aroma - grainy malt, like sticking your head right in the fermentation tank. Some flavors of bread dough, yeast and caramel also come to mind.

Taste - sharp on the tongue, like a malt whip setting the stage. This dark amber lager has lots of malt flavor up front followed by some apple and caramel sweetness. I'm loving the way the carbonation makes each sip very crisp and refreshing. The grainy flavor I smelled is very apparent once this hits the lips. If you like an all-grain lager brewed with heart and soul than this is for you. Solid, straightforward and superb.

Overall - smooth, crisp and malty. Pretty light on the tongue and very well-balanced. Excellent lager with plenty of flavor from start to finish.

Would I buy more of it? - absolutely. This is another winner from the good folks in Midvale, Utah!

12 oz can at 42 degrees into a pint glass.

A: It pours a transluscent copper color with an inch of fizzy white head that dies quickly and doesn't leave any lacing. It looks like a typical macro lager.

S: Light biscuit, toffee, caramel, and butterscotch. Nothing is too strong here as it is pretty basic and unoffensive.

T: Toasty throughout; breadiness, caramel, citrus, and some underlying hoppiness. It's almost like a lagered version of an English bitter but not quite as doughy.

M: It has a medium-light body with spritzy carbonation and a crisp, clean finish.

D: This is wonderfully quaffable and has lots of flavor for only being 4% alcohol.

Sampled from a sampler size glass at the brewpub. (Also a full pint later in the visit.)

Good gold amber verging to brown in the shadows. Good white head and well carbonated.

Aroma is sweet malt and caramel with just the faintest whiff of diacetyl (but I'm sensitive to diacetyl so most shouldn't get it in this brew). And a faint touch of banana.

Flavor is a match for the aroma with a good medium body and caramel malt to a well blanced finish with a good hop which they claim is their most hoppy brew (doesn't seem like it)

grabbed a single can of all of these at gbx and decided to pop one open this morning to get the day rolling.

pour was a typical light golden color with a crystal clear boy. light foam on top really comes through an then leaves as quick as it came. aroma of light hops, grass, a touch of gran an banana and a bread malt middle, really nicely done with a smooth and even touch of flavor and clean light taste that made it super sessionable.

overall a nice light offering that was nothing out of the ordinary but worked and was a nice light session beer.

Very lovely amber on the darker side. Nice head in the tall wine glass. Slight whiff of malt.

Pleasant browned biscuit taste. Malty sweetness gives it some substance. Nice toasty flavor. Moderate hoppiness keeps it out of the Pilsener category, but definitely a nicer kiss of hops than many of the usual amber lagers or dunkel types.

Rather plain finish, but a tiny zing of bitterness and tanginess makes it quite a nice quaff. This would be a contender for the best of the litter of uninspiring light Utah brews. From the 12 oz can bought at a Salt Lake supermarket.

The twelve pack had a canning date of 8-28-12, so these are less than 5 weeks old. This one poured into a perfect pint.

Appearance: Gorgeous rocky head with nice sticky lacing golden light amber beer. Looks really good.

Smell: General earthy bitter hops mix bready malts.

Taste: Has just a touch of metallic twang to it. Nice bready-caramel malts. Clean malt finish with some bitterness from the hops.

Mouthfeel: As much, or more body than a 4 ABV beer should have. I am not sure how Bohemian does it, but their beers just feel more filling than other 4 ABV Utah beers. The carbonation is middling to strong, but not spritzy.

Overall: A solid session lager with as much flavor as a 4 ABV can pack in. Bohemian is my go-to grocery store beer here in Utah.

Review is from notes taken over the summer.

Dark Golden Amber in color, low carbonation. Respectable foamy white head, nice retention. Pleasing malty sweetness aroma. I detect faint hints of molasses or brown sugar. Tastes lightly of toasted malt, with an ever so slight amount of hops peeking through. Nice uncomplicated taste. They can't all be malt bombs, can they? Mouthfeel is fairly light, a bit lighter than i would like to see in this beer. Drinkability is fairly high. Nice, uncomplicated taste. I should grab a growler of this to take home with me.

Beer #13 in the great Utah Brew Hunt.

Always good to see not typical styles available. This is an easy drinking beer with a nice smooth and mellow profile that's mildly sweet and quite malty, but not at all overdone. Seems to have a good balance to me. I feel like I don't have anything to say about this beer besides that it would be a great session beer.

I think if you like amber ales or lagers, you will really like this one.

Poured into a dimpled beer mug on 8/14/2014

The appearance is copper and deep orange; poured a foamy off-white head; some sticky lace; some carbonation and haze is apparent.

The aroma is mixed with caramel malt and grains, cereal grains and nuts, with an earthy mild hop undertone.

It tastes like toasty sweet malt up front, followed by a gentle bitter/dry aftertaste. It is fairly balanced; malt-forward. The caramel malt backbone and light nutty flavor is not significant, but they each add balance to the hops. Dry aftertaste and just a little fruity.

Light bodied and slightly wet; crisp and satisfying. Very quaffable, indeed.

I must have had a bad batch the first time I drank this or perhaps my palate changed, but this is a fine tasting year round beer; but it would be great in the autumn as it somewhat reminds me of an Oktoberfest beer. I like it and I will drink it again. I am happy I gave it another shot, although I said I would never do it again.

mislabed. this should be a vienna lager.

appearance: nice red color

smell: some caramel notes and some decent hop aroma

taste: good hop flavor but not enough for me.

mouthfeel: light bodied.

drinkability: another good lager from a place that knows how to do it correctly

Beer is yellow and clear with a white head of small and medium bubbles that leaves some lacing on the glass, carbonation moderate.

Beer smells grainy and sweet with a mild hoppiness.

Beer is light in body and a little bitter on the end from grains and perhaps some hops. I like it overall but it is simple, I'd have it again.

A: Poured from a can to a mug. Had a light brown color and a clear consistency. There was an inch of foamy, fairly long-lasting head. Good lacing.

S: As expected, the aroma was dominated by malt, with a faint trace of hops.

T: Basically tasted like it smelled - a lot of malt with some hops mixed in. Not the most overly complex flavor, but good enough.

M: A solid amount of carbonation with a dry finish. Medium-bodied.

D: A decent beer, and drinkable, but not entirely memorable.

single can from WF in SLC

a: poured into a mason jar pint, medium maple amber in color, capped with a healthy white head that retains a good layer

s: simple lager malt structure dosed lightly with subtly toasted vienna malt, providing a slightly nutty grain aroma and light sweetness, mild papery hops

m: carbonation moderate-high, a little spirtzy, body on the light side

t: body primarily composed of clean, somewhat plain lager malts - pilsner, but supplemented with lightly nutty, lightly toasted vienna malts, there's touch of sweetness, a little on the watery side but decent flavor from the malts, hops papery with a mild acidity, fairly clean finish with a crisp mineral sensation accompanying an ending dryness

o: a fine vienna lager, a little thin and plain for my taste, but at 4 percent it does well

Poured from about an inch from above gives this a nice big frothy light tan head above a clear rich honey colored lager.

The aroma is a light sour grain with a hint of the grain malt coming through.

Some sourness blended with a caramel malt with just a slight bit of grain and graininess coming through.

A parching, light dry aftertaste with hints of malt, leaves me with a pretty good feeling towards this beer.

Clear deeply amber colored beer with small gut thick white colored head.

Smells quite fruity with a nice touch of caramel and nuts. Light but sweetly malty. The can says in small letters "Bock" and I can smell that it is a little sweetly nutty. Little bit of wheat biscuit in the malt.

Starts out sweet and a little fruity with a sharp but not to sharp bitterness. Little bit of caramel and some grain husk flavor.

Mouthfeel is good.

Overall pretty good for a 4% Beer. Would love to see what they can do with no restrictions.

Appearance: Pours a clear amber color capped by a modest head that retains nicely and leaves a few shards behind

Smell: Caramel, nuts and grain

Taste: A hint of caramel, up front, with a developing grainy character; surprisingly fruity, after the swallow, with a tart finish

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Not bad, but a bit too much grain and tartness for my palate

Mouthfeel:

Thanks, Douglas88, for the opportunity
